INTERSTATE WILDLIFE TRAFFICKER AKASH SON OF SANSAR CHAND ARRESTED BY CRIME BRANCH
Crime Branch has
arrested Akash (33 yrs) s/o late Sansar Chand r/o H.No.1159, Gali No.11, Sadar Bazar, PS Sadar Bazar,
Delhi & H.No.2107, Sadar Nala Road, Sadar Bazar, Delhi, gang leader
of interstate organized wildlife trafficking. During this operation, the team
of Crime Branch was attacked by the criminal, his family members and other
persons mobilized by them. One Head Constable and one Constable of Crime Branch
have received multiple injuries. Even after attack and receiving injuries, team
of Crime Branch apprehended the wanted accused. The operation was executed on a
secret input received by HC Hamender of SER/Crime Branch regarding presence of Akash
in Motia Khan, Paharganj area on 11/7/2016. Crime Branch had also received a
request from SHO/PS Hathipole, Udaipur, Rajasthan seeking help in apprehension
of their wanted accused Akash in case FIR No. 90/2015 dated 5/5/2015 u/s 9/39
(B), 44 (1) A (iii), 48 B, 49 B & 51 Wild Life Act, PS Hathipole, Udaipur,
Rajasthan. In this case, two leopard hides were recovered from the possession
of two bike riders accused namely Ganesh and Prabhulal. Rajasthan police
arrested total 8 accused in this case including Mrs. Rani, mother of Akash, but
Akash was still at large.
TEAM & OPERATION: -
On 11.07.2016, a secret information
was received by HC Hamender that one Interstate leopard hide trader, namely Akash s/o Sansar Chand, wanted in case
FIR No.90/15 u/s 9/39/44/48/49/51 Wild Life Act, PS Hathipole, Udaipur,
Rajasthan and NBW against him had also been issued by concerned court of law,
would come in the area of Motia Khan, Paharganj. Crime Branch had also received
a request from SHO/PS Hathipole, Udaipur, Rajasthan seeking help in
apprehension of their wanted accused Akash. The secret information received by
HC Hamender was further developed and a team of Crime Branch led by ACP Ishwar
Singh and comprising Inspr. Atul Tyagi, W/SI Kusum Dangi, HCs Hamender,
Sandeep, Virender, Cts. Pankaj, Surender and Rakesh was constituted under
overall guidance of DCP Bhisham Singh to nab the wanted criminal.
The team conducted raid at Sadar Thana
Road, Motia Khan, Paharganj, Delhi at about 5:00 pm at the instance of the secret
informer to apprehend wanted accused Akash. Suddenly, a mob including family
members/relatives of Akash gathered at the spot and tried to forcibly get Akash
free from the custody of police officials of Crime Branch. Akash and his family
members became aggressive and opposed his apprehension and attacked the police
party. But police party resisted their move and did not let Akash go. Akash, Seema
(sister of Akash), Jatin (cousin), Sandeep (brother-in-law of Akash), Azad Ram (father-in-law
of Akash) and others tried to overpower the police party. They even bit HC
Hamender and Ct. Pankaj over their hands and pelted stones at police party. HC
Hamender and Ct. Pankaj sustained multiple injuries even then they did not let
Akash go. Local police also came at the spot during the incident.
On the complaint of
HC Hamender, a case FIR No.275/2016 dated 11/07/2016 u/s 186/353/332/34 IPC, PS
Paharganj, Delhi has been registered and further investigation is being
conducted by local police. A team of local police of PS Hathipole, Udaipur, Rajasthan
has also reached Delhi for further course of legal action.
INTERROGATION AND PROFILE: -
Accused Akash is son of Sansar Chand, who does not
require any introduction. He was a notorious interstate trafficker of wildlife
species. He used to trade in organs, nails, teeth and hides of wild species. He
was involved in several cases of Wild Life Act. In 2004, he died in SMS
Hospital, Jaipur during medical treatment. He was lodged in Alwar jail,
Rajasthan during that period and was suffering from cancer.
On interrogation,
Akash stated that he completed his class 12th from a Academy in Dehradun,
Uttrakhand in 2003. When he was pursuing his second year of B.Com (Honrs.) from
College, Delhi, he got involved in a
wildlife case in the jurisdiction of PS Manak Chowk, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Nails
of leopard were recovered from his possession. He was lodged in jail in this
case till 2008 and got bail from court after spending almost 4 years in jail.
In Manak Chowk case, his mother Mrs. Rani was also arrested. She was lodged in
jail for about one and half a year.
In 2015, her mother
Rani was again arrested vide case FIR No.90/2015 dated 05/05/2015 u/s 9/39 (B),
44 (1) A (iii), 48 B, 49 B & 51 Wild Life Act PS Hathipole, Udaipur,
Rajasthan. Akash was at large in this case since the arrest of her mother. He
made efforts to get anticipatory bail but his anticipatory bail application was
even dismissed by the Jodhpur Bench of Rajasthan High Court.
In the garb of “Sara
Electronics”, Karol Bagh, Delhi, which is in the business of selling laptop of
prominent company “Asus” through SNAPDEAL, he was operating his interstate
network of wildlife trafficking.
Further
investigation will be conducted by local police of P.S: Hathipole, Udaipur,
Rajasthan regarding provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act to ascertain
leopard hides supply and local police of P.S: Paharganj is conducting
investigation regarding assault over Crime Branch team.
