Today Senior B.J.P. Leader, Delhi State, Vice Chairman, NDMC and Former MLA Shri Karan Singh Tanwar, through a letter dated 22nd August 2016 addressed  to Shri Manohar Parikkar, Hon’ble Defence Minister, Govt. of India high lighting the atrocities made by corrupt  Station Commander Brig. Jai Singh for  uprooting around 20,000 trees green trees of Nicholson Range near Toda Pur Village without prior permission of the Forest Department and thus disposal / selling of the resultant wood obtained by cutting of trees giving foul smell of corruption and a thorough  probe by CBI.
Shri Tanwar further briefed the Press Reporters that on the behest of Station Commander Brig. Jai Singh, the thick forests of Neem, Pipal, Kikar, Sagwan, Mulberry and other species of multiple green trees were uprooted and this was a gross violation of the guidelines issued by Forest Department, National Green Tribunal,  M/O Defence and clear cut violation of the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India since this ‘Nicholson Ranges’ falls within the jurisdiction of Ridge Valley. This is popularly known as the ‘Heart of the Capital’. Due to indiscriminate cutting of trees, the ecological balance of nature has disturbed and increased level of pollution is affecting adversely. The dictator ship attitude of the Station Commander, Brig. Jai Singh had led down the movement of the Hon’ble Prime Minister “Grow Trees and Save Pollution”. Station Commander is not fit for this office and is a blot in the name of Army.
Shri Tanwar further stated that where is the money received after disposal of uprooted  20,000 trees?  Why due process of tendering was not adopted for disposal of the wood, in the possession of Army due to illegal cutting of 20,000 trees? Why alone a contractor, Mr. Tyagi was given this contract of removal of woods and under which rule this financial transactin was made in connivance with Mr. Tyagi?  Why the resultant wood was not disposed as per CVC guidelines, is a matter of grave concern and needs to be investigated, only then truth will come out and the culprit officers will be booked.
Shri Tanwar further stated that he had also brought the matter to the notice of Justice Mr. Swantra Kumar, Chairperson, NGT on 22nd August 2016. Taking cognizance of this serious issue, Station Commandeer Brig. Jai Singh has been summoned to appear before the Commission along with Mr. Shankar Babu Reddy, CEO, Delhi Cantonment Board and Forest Departments Officers of Delhi Government on 7th October 2016 along with supporting documents,  so that culprits can be booked for their offence.

Gopi Nath had also called him in his chamber on 30th September 2016 at 12 noon for my views and thorough investigation. Thus summoning up Shri Tanwar appealed the Hon’’ble Defence Minister to dismiss Brig. Jai Singh henceforth with refer illegal cutting case  to CBI in the interest of justice.
