Notorious Interstate Gang Of Robbers Busted
With
the arrest of Bharat Bhai Shodasa s/o Mohan Bhai Shodasa r/o H.No. 20, Bangla
Area, Kuber Nagar, Chhara Nagar Road, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Special Staff of East District alongwith the
officials of P.S. Preet Vihar, Delhi has solved two cases of robbery registered
at P.S. Preet Vihar, Delhi in which robbery was committed with victims on Vikas
Marg outside ICICI Bank Preet Vihar.
On 09.10.2014 Sh. Himmat Bafna visited ICICI Bank, Preet Vihar to
operate his locker. He had to attend a marriage function so he took out his
diamond and other precious stones/gold jewellery worth more than 1.5 crore from his
locker and on the way to his home he was robbed by bike borne criminals.
Immediately police swung into action and registered a case vide FIR No. 653/14
u/s 392/34 IPC at P.S. Preet Vihar, Delhi and took up the investigation.
On 18.11.2014, Sh. Jaiveer Singh, a supervisor with a company of
Patparganj came to ICICI Bank, Preet Vihar to cash a cheque amounting Rs.
3,53,400/-. After collecting the cash when he reached Red Light near ICICI Bank
he was robbed by bike borne criminals. On his statement Case FIR No. 785/14 u/s
356/379/34 IPC, PS Preet Vihar, Delhi and investigation was taken up.
Taking into account the
gravity of the case the Special Staff of East Distt. along with local police of
PS Preet Vihar was assigned the task to nab the gang of robbers. A team
comprising SIs Vinay Yadav, Sumit Malik, Arun Sindhu, R.S.Pandit (I.O. PS Preet
Vihar), Bijender, Praveen Kumar, Deep Chand, Manoj, Ct.Praveen, Ct.Shyam Singh,
Ct. Ravinder Bhati and Ct. Tekram under the close supervision of Insp. Manoj
Pant I/C Spl. Staff East was constituted and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, the team of special staff collected around
15 CCTV Footages from the bank, outside bank, near Red Light etc. The CCTV
footages of both the incidents were minutely analyzed. From the analysis, it
was found that some faces were commonly seen in both the CCTV footages. Six
suspects and three motorcycles were suspected to be involved in the commission
of crime, one of the criminal was of around 50 years of age. The photographs of
the criminals from CCTV Footages were developed. Dossiers of hundreds of
dreaded criminals & recent jail released criminals were shown to the
victims, witnesses and informers but all in vein. It was very strange to find
that no one had seen them before.
After this the criminal dossier
system of Delhi Police was minutely checked and after going through more than a
thousand dossiers of criminals, it came to notice that one gang from Ahmedabad,
Gujarat was arrested in PS Rajouri Garden, Delhi in 2013 in a similar incident.
Though the dossier photographs of those criminals were not matching with the
criminals involved in incidents of Preet Vihar, but two things viz. modus
operandi and one criminal of more than 50 years of age was found similar. Informations
were gathered from West District and on this basis of vital inputs Special
Staff team of East Distt. visited Ahmedabad in January 2015 and March 2015 and
circulated the photographs and CCTV Footages to Crime Branch Ahmedabad and
Police Stations of Ahmedabad.
Later on in May 2015,
Crime Branch Ahmedabad informed that the photographs had been identified by their
informers as Bharat, Manoj r/o Chhara Nagar, Kuber Nagar, Ahmedabad. On this
information a team immediately reached Ahmedabad and with the help of Gujarat
Police Bharat was arrested on 18.05.15 and he disclosed his involvement in both
the cases.
On Sustained
interrogation Bharat disclosed that he is the Gang Leader and there are six
members in his gang. The gang used to visit Metropolitan cities like Delhi,
Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad etc for committing robberies. They use to visit these
cities by Air and they send the motorcycles by Trucks to those cities. First of
all they focus on a bank situated on main roads and then they saw the escape
routes. After this Bharat and Uttam visits the bank with cross bags and wearing
tie to pose themselves as MNC personnel. Then they focus on a specific target.
Bharat then pass on this information to criminals standing outside i.e. to
Manoj, Nikhil, Shashikant and Madhyam. They don’t use mobile phones during the
operation. Then the target is robbed by two persons, next two persons accost
them and Bharat and Uttam saw the incident from a distance as public persons.
They also have a team of advocates of Ahmedabad which visits the cities by Air
in case they are caught during robbery.
