Two Thieves Arrested. Gold & Silver Jewellery Articles Worth Rupees 2 Lakh Recovered

With the arrest of two thieves 1. Manoj Kumar @ Kalia s/o Vishwanath Das and 2. Santosh @ Ganesh s/o Late Sita Ram, police of PS Kashmere Gate Metro, Delhi has worked out a case of theft of bag containing clothes, and gold and silver jewellery articles worth Rs. 2 lakhs recovered.

On 25.03.15, one Sh. Mukesh Kumar s/o Lallan Prasad r/o 1244/3, Gali No. 5, Rajeev Nagar, Gurgaon, Haryana was going by Metro to New Delhi Railway Station to see off his wife who was to go to her parental home, Lucknow. He hired a person to carry his luggage to the platform. He gave his bag which was containing clothes of his wife, and her gold and silver jewellery articles to the person. He was on the way to the platform to see off his wife in Vaishali Express. On the way, the person slipped away along with bag. He searched the person but the person could not be traced. On his complaint a case vide FIR No. 332/15 u/s 379 IPC was registered and the investigation of the case was taken up. Information about the person was developed. From the clips of the CCTV footage and local enquiry, the person was identified as Kalia. Search of Kalia was made and about 20 persons were interrogated to know about his whereabouts but no information about him could be extracted.
             
On 30.03.15, information was received by the IO/HC Dalbir Singh No. 166/RM that Kalia who is wanted in this case would come to New Delhi Railway Station near Ajmeri Gate side and planning to escape by train to his parental village in District Vaishali, Bihar. On this information, a team was constituted in the supervision of Insp. Amleshwar Rai SHO/KGM and consisting of HC Dalbir Singh No. 166/RM, Ct. Ravi Shekhar, Ct. Sonu Tomar, Ct. Yudhbir, Ct. Upender, Ct. Dinesh, Ct Wasim and Ct. Bhoj Kumar under the supervision of ACP/Metro Sh. P.P.Singh and under overall supervision of Addl. DCP/Metro, Sh Rakesh Paweriya. A trap was laid outside New Delhi Metro Station and around New Delhi Railway Station and on the instance of informer, accused Manoj Kumar @ Kalia s/o Vishwanath Das r/o Jhuggi, Haiderpur village, Bus stand, near Sochalaya, Delhi, aged 22 years was arrested. On sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he had sold the bag containing clothes and jewellery articles to one Santosh @ Ganesh who resides at Jhuggi, Footpath, near Rivoli Cinema, opp Hanuman Mandir, Cannaught Place, Delhi on a payment of Rs. 4500/-. The accused further led the police party to the address of the co-accused Santosh @ Ganesh. At his instance, accused Santosh @ Ganesh 30 years s/o Late Sita Ram r/o Jhuggi, Footpath, near Rivoli Cinema, opp Hanuman Mandir, Cannaught Place, Delhi was also arrested and all gold and silver jewellery articles e.g. one gold chain, one mangal sutra (gold), two gold lockets, one pair gold jhumke, two pair silver payal, four gold rings, five pair silver bichiya, one single silver payal etc. was recovered at his instance from his jhuggi.
           
The accused Manoj Kumar @ Kalia is a smack addict. He is married and is having two small children at his native village. He came Delhi from Vaishali District of Bihar about 5-6 years ago. He used to work outside New Delhi Metro & Railway Station. Because of involvement of bad elements in this trade, he started living in the company of smack addicts near Railway Station and also became addict of it. He came in contact with Santosh @ Ganesh and starting lifting bags. In the year 2014, he was arrested by Police of PS Hauz Qazi in a case of consuming of smack at public place.
