LOP DEMANDS CBI ENQUIRY INTO CORRUPTION AND CONNIVANCE IN FOOD AND CIVIL SUPPLY DEPARTMENT

Leader of Opposition Shri Vijender Gupta today demanded CBI enquiry into the corruption in Delhi Government’s Food and Civil Supply Ministry leading to consumers being compelled to purchase essential food items such as pulses, oil, sugar and wheat at exorbitant rates.  The connivance of the Delhi Government is causing retail rates as high as 50 to 120% more than the retail price.  He said that it is strange the Government has not taken any action against the defaulters.  He said that the comparison given below makes the corruption and connivance clear:-

Mr. Gupta said that washing soap, detergent powder, bathing soap, tea leaves, phoha and other daily use items are being sold at exorbitant high rate in retail market.  A common man is feeling the brunt of Government corruption and connivance.

Leader of Opposition, Mr. Vijender Gupta today observed that the transfer of the Secretary (PWD) and Secretary (Health) are within the Service Rules of the Civil Servants and fully justified as per Constitutional provisions.  The knee-jerk reaction of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and the entire AAP to the transfers reflects its trade mark attitude of defiance of the rules and democratic values. The post of Secretary is generally filled up from IAS cadre; but CM chose to fill up these posts from the officers having engineering and medical-IRS background.  

Mr. Gupta said that in the history of the Delhi Government, an engineer or a doctor-IRS officer was never appointed as Secretary. But by- passing all sevice rules and regulations, the Chief Minister appointed his favorite officers on these posts.  Even when he filled up these posts in this manner, they could not have continued for more than three months. But Kejriwal dragged these posts for a year.  He was advised many times to correct the course.  But he chose to ignore it.  The Delhi Service Board had also opined against continuation of these post.  Therefore,, the removal is as per rules and regulations as well as within the Constitutional frame- work.

Leader of Opposition said that the CM and Deputy CM along with entire AAP are suffering from Modi-Jung phobia.  CM in particular is habitual of referring to Modiji day in and day out.  He mistakenly dreams that he can raise his stature by abusing the PM.  All Constitutional decisions taken by LG appear to him as motivated by vengeance.  Mr.Gupta advised CM and others to give up the confrontationist attitude and follow the path of Constitution and democratic value.
