NEW DELHI, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee intensified its #JaagoYaBhaago campaign on the second day to protest against the  dangerous  craters dotting Delhi roads due to the criminal negligence act by the PWD department of the Delhi Government in carrying out the desilting of drains  before the onset of rains, resulting in potholes on  roads. The Congress workers put a fake crocodile in a huge pothole on the Najafgarh Road at Zakira  Chowk, Moti Nagar to highlight the dangerous condition of Delhi roads. DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken slammed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal “as Delhi crumbles, Arvind Kejriwal has gone on a 10-day deep sleep”.

A large number of Congress leaders, workers and  local residents witnessed as a big fake crocodile was put on the pothole filled with rain and accumulated water to show how dangerous have Delhi roads become after a few monsoon rains, which has already claimed the life of a man on the Mehrauli-Mahipalpur road pothole, near Vasant Kunj, on July 30, 2016.

DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken had announced at a press conference on August 1 (Monday) that the  DPCC will launch  #JaagoYaBhaago campaign on WhatsApp No 9891620771 against the Delhi Government and the BJP-ruled MCDs whereby photographs of potholes on roads would be called with the details of the name of the road/gali, name of the Assembly/Ward along with the name of the sender, to put pressure on the AAP Government in Delhi and the BJP-ruled MCDs to immediately fill these potholes for the safety of the people. This week-long campaign will continue till the Delhi roads become pothole-free.

According to senior leader Shri Chattar Singh, there has been tremendous response to DPCC’s #JaagoYaBhaago campaign on WhatsApp as 1000 photos and thousands of messages from all over Delhi on the pathetic condition of Delhi roads have already been received.

Prominent among those who participated in the  #JaagoYaBhaago campaign today were chief spokesperson Smt. Sharmistha Mukherjee,   district president Madan Khorwal, ex-Councillors Rakesh Joshi and Mamta Joshi,  Shri Chattar Singh, Block Congress Committee presidents S.K.Singh,   Kishan Narang and Rajesh Chopra, Abdul Wahid and Sunil Rai.
