DELHI PRADESH CONGRESS COMMITTEE OBSERVES "RAJIV GANDHI JI’S 72nd BIRTHDAY"


        NEW DELHI, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Shri Ajay Maken said at a meeting to mark the 72nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Shri Rajiv Gandhi, at the DPCC Office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, that if India is a fast developing world economy and major  power in its own right, it was due to the vision, modern outlook and the hard work put in by  Shri Rajiv Gandhi, who had set the ball rolling to make India a  technologically-driven   advanced nation. 

Shri Maken exhorted the Congress workers to work hard to realize the dream of  Rajiv Ji for making India a world power in every aspect. Shri Ajay Maken and other leaders offered floral tributes at the portrait of Rajiv Ji.

Besides DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken, Ex MLAs  Hari Shankar Gupta, Amrish Gautam, Sewa Dal chief organizer Dineshwar Tyagi, DCC Presidents Shri Pradeep Sharma, Mohd. Usman, Hari Kishan Jindal, Satinder Sharma, Bhushan Tyagi, Jagjivan Sharma and a large number of Congress workers participated in the function. The Congress workers and leaders assembled at Rajiv Bhawan after  attending a  morning prayer-meeting at Veer Bhoomi, the Samadhi of Rajiv Ji, at Rajghat.

Shri Ajay Maken said Shri Rajiv Gandhi had dreamt of a bright future for India, and the country was now heading towards realizing Rajivji’s dream of making the nation a modern, technologically advanced, employment-generating country which could compete with the best in the world on an even footing. He said every Indian should take a pledge to realize Rajivji’s dream of making India a world power, where the poor and the Dalits would be able to improve their lot, and be  equals like the rest of the population.  Shri Maken said Congress was the party of the poor, and it had always worked  for the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden, and the inspiration derived from Rajivji’s ideals have made the party richer.

Shri Ajay Maken said Shri Rajiv Gandhi will always be remembered for bringing computer revolution to the country, giving voting rights to 18-year-olds and 33 per cent reservation for women. Shri Maken said Shri Rajiv Gandhi worked for a peaceful world, where everyone could co-exist in a friendly and fearless manner, and a modern, vibrant India which would play a major role in the world in the 21st Century. He said the cruel hands of terrorism snatched away the great leader from our midst, and no effort should be spared to wipe out the scourge of terrorism from the world.
