WOMEN VOICE WILL SUBMIT A MEMORANDUM CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER OF INDIA

WOMEN VOICE WILL SUBMIT A MEMORANDUM TO CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER OF INDIA SEEKING DE-RECOGNITION OF AAP ON THE GROUND OF REPEATED FAILURE TO CURB HARASSMENT OF WOMEN IN THE PARTY BY PARTY CHIEF

New Delhi , 27th July.  Women drawn from all spheres of society today held a massive demonstration at Delhi Government Secretariat near ITO under the banner of WOMEN VOICE.

The large group of women suddenly reached around 11:30 am outside the Secretariat public entry gate in about 30 cars and even before the Secretariat security staff could respond and shut the gate a large of women managed to get inside the complex while those who could not started raising slogans of Justice For Soni.

A group of over hundred women entered into the secretariat complex through the Gate No. 6 and reached to the lobby area raising slogans demanding resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal & Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal for their failure to save the life of AAP Volunteer Mrs. Soni who was forced to commit suicide after harassment by the ruling party leader Ramesh Bhardwaj & MLA Sharad Chauhan.
Prominent amongst the protestors under WOMEN VOICE Banner were Councillor Smt. Rekha Gupta, Advocate Shikha Rai, Advocate Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Smt. Shazia Ilmi, Smt. Vishakha Shailani, Smt. Poonam Parashar, Smt. Sudha Sharma, Smt. Shobha Upadhyay, Smt. Mamta Kale, Smt. Anju Jain, Dr. Preeti Aggarwal, Smt. Neema Bhagat etc.

Smt. Rekha Gupta talking to the reporters outside the Secretariat later said that though Justice for Soni was the plank of today’s demonstration but today the women of Delhi are very agitated with the Kejriwal Government over the repeated incidents of women harassment by his party colleagues. She said Aam Aadmi Party has become a paradise for women bashers and we will soon go to Election Commission of India as well as National Women Commission to raise the matter of Aam Aadmi Party Convenor & CM Arvind Kejriwal’s failure to protect his women party volunteers. Women Voice will submit a memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner of India to seek de-recognition of AAP on the ground of repeated failure to curb harassment of women in the party by Party Chief.

Advocate Shikha Rai said that after the lodging of FIR in the matter of revealing of identity of a rape victim DCW Chairperson Smt. Swati Maliwal has no moral right to remain in office. We have come to seek dismissal and we will keep coming until the Government dismisses her.
Advocate Kamaljeet Sehrawat said that today we have come here to seek dismissal of DCW Chairperson Smt. Swati Maliwal and resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for their failure to give protection to their own party volunteer Mrs. Soni who was forced to commit suicide after harassment by party leaders of Narela. Soon we will consider taking the matter to court of law for the women who have chosen the political path of supporting AAP but are now facing harassment by their male party colleagues.

Smt. Shazia Ilmi who had quit AAP in late 2014 said that we feel sad that what started as ideological sidelining of women leadership in the party has now stooped to as low as physical harassment of the women volunteers. She called upon the few women leaders in AAP to raise a banner of protest on the harassment of women volunteers or soon they too might face similar circumstances.

Smt. Vishakha Shailani said that AAP has become a platform for women bashers, land grabbers, extortionist. She called upon the Chief Minister to either provide protection to women, both in the society and in his party or submit his resignation.
