Smt. Barkha Shukla Singh reacting to allegations levelled by Ms. Swati Maliwal said it was laughable that Ms Maliwal has claimed that she is not associated with any political party as it is a well known fact she was attached to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and was also drawing a hefty salary, before being appointed as the Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women. In fact even her husband Mr. Naveen Jaihind is an office bearer of the Haryana unit of the Aam Aadmi Party. It is not surprising to hear such lies from the Aam Aadmi Party leaders as it emanates from the very top in their organisation.

It is also ridiculous for her to suggest that only One (1) case was heard during my Nine (9) year long tenure as the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women. The complaint handling policy of the Delhi Commission for Women clearly lays down that all cases received in the commission will be marked to members and it is only in special or extraordinary circumstances that the Chairperson can take up the hearings of cases. We never worked in the commission to make records of how many cases we dealt with, but with the only agenda of providing relief to all women who approached us in whatever best means available to us.

She further added that while dealing with matters relating to Aam Aadmi Party leaders, she was approached by the office of Chief Minister Mr. Kejriwal to come and meet him in his office and was asked to bring case files relating to Mr Somnath Bharti and Mr Kumar Vishwas. In the meeting she was asked by Hon'ble Chief Minster Mr. Kejriwal to not take any action against his party leaders and was persuaded by the Hon'ble CM himself to not pay importance to these matters and was told that we have to work together in the future also, hinting at an extension of her term as Chairperson. Ms. Maliwal was herself present in that meeting and was deputed by Hon'ble Chief Minster to deal with DCW regarding these said cases. It is wrong of Ms. Maliwal to make such false claims regarding my tenure only to hog limelight. She used to frequent the DCW office during my tenure to further her agenda as directed by Mr. Kejriwal.

The efficiency of the Delhi Commission for Women under the Chairmanship of Ms. Maliwal is very well represented in the fact that the commission failed to counsel a depressed Soni despite of her reaching out to them. Through sources we would not like to name we got information that the blue eyed men of Ms Mailwal were dealing with aggrieved women approaching the commission asking them inappropriate questions since the commission was working at half capacity. 

It is imperative for Ms Maliwal to understand that with the limited powers available to the commission, the prime job and duty of the commission is to counsel victims who approach them. Aggrieved women look for moral support that the men working in the commission cannot provide. This was the reason that Soni returned from the commission adding to her depression. If more members are not added to hear aggrieved women and these men are not removed, more and more women will be forced to follow a same route, as this kind of dealing by men in the commission only adds to their miseries.

It is also important to add here that very recently two Deputy Secretaries of the commission were removed from their offices only because they did not fall in line with Ms. Maliwal's whims and fancies.

Smt Barkha Shukla Singh reiterates her demand of removal of Ms. Maliwal as she is inexperienced, uncompassionate and ignorant, lacks traits, which are very important to run an establishment as sensitive as the Delhi Commission for Women.
