Shamli (UP), Jagdish (27 years) S/o
Bhagwan Singh R/o Village Khoksa, PS Jhinjhana, District Shamli (UP), Ashok @ Sonu (28 years) S/o Jai Pal
Singh R/o Village Birliyan, PS Jhinjhana, District Shamli (UP) and Satish Chand S/o Lt. Daya Shankar R/o Gali
No. 2, Subhash Mohalla, Bhajanpura, Delhi, a team of Special Staff, South District have busted a highly desperate gang
of robbers / snatchers committing crime of snatching / robbery with impunity in
the different parts of South District and in the adjoining areas of Gurgaon
District. With the arrest of accused
persons, 9 robbed gold chains, 2 motor cycles used in commission of crime have
been recovered and 105 cases of robbery/snatching have been solved.
A large number of
snatching / robbery incidents of gold chains were being committed in the area
of South District. District Police was
on look out for such criminals who have created havoc in the area. On 19-06-15, 3 incidents of snatching had
reported in the area of PS Mehrauli within a span of one hour. The crimes were committed by the motor cycle
borne criminals. In this regard, cases
of robberies were registered and investigation taken up.
The District Police was
working on various gangs. Local SHO
along with staff and also the team of Special Staff minutely scrutinized the
route and description given by the complainants. The team also surveyed the area for CCTV
cameras. During such examination of the
place of occurrence and nearby areas, some clue was found through CCTV camera,
installed in a particular colony. Based
on that input and also the field intelligence gathered by the team, they were
sent to different hideouts of the suspects.
While they were analyzing the CCTV and other inputs, it was seen that
the criminals of Jhinjhana area might have committed these crimes. Accordingly, one of the teams went to Burari
and surrounding areas. On specific
input, the team conducted raid at a place in the area of PS Swarup Nagar and
found 4 persons in suspicious condition.
They were put through sustained examination and shown the CCTV footage
on which they confessed to have committed these crimes. Accused persons were identified as Manoj,
Pinku, Jagdish and Ashok.
At the
instance of accused persons, 7 robbed gold chains and two motor cycles (Pulsor)
used in crime were recovered. Later on, at
the instance of accused persons receiver
of robbed / snatched gold chains namely Satish Chand S/o Lt. Daya Shankar R/o Gali No. 2, Subhash Mohalla,
Bhajanpura, Delhi was arrested and 2
robbed/snatched chains were recovered from his possession.
During interrogation, it
was disclosed by these criminals that after release from the jail, accused Manoj
and Ashok along with other accomplice had committed more than 100 incidents of robbery / snatching in the
area of Delhi and Gurgaon. One of the
accused Ashok is apparently their gang leader who has a previous history of
involvements in 16 such cases of robbery in the year 2009 alone.
With their arrest, 105
cases of robbery / snatching of gold chains which have been committed in the
area of PSs R.K. Puram, Malviya Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Saket, V.K. North, V.K.
South, Lodhi Colony, Vasant Vihar, South Campus, Mehrauli, S.J. Enclave, Janak
Puri, Defence Colony and Gurgaon have been detected.
Further investigation
is in progress to probe in other involvements of accused persons and to recover
more robbed property.
The modus operandi of
gang is that they used to operate in the morning from 6 AM to 9.30 AM. They ply on motor cycles (two each on a motor
cycle), choose their targets mostly alone or single women of middle age up to
60 years, walking at roadside. In the
early morning, they commit crime near temples and approach to religious places
and schools. Later in the morning near
bus stands and approach to offices Similarly, in the evening (from 5.30 PM to
9.30 PM), they approach offices / bus stands and market area to target the
people. In a day, they snatch about 6-8
gold chains and then via different routes go to their rental houses. They contact their receivers over mobile and
meet at designated place for disposal of the robbed / snatched property and
changes the designated place periodically.
They dispose these articles in Jhinjhana as well in Delhi.
