Statement by Sr. B.J.P. Leader, Delhi State, Vice Chairman, NDMC and Former MLA Shri Karan Singh Tanwar

Thursday, the 20th October 2016 –

On the behest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi,  the forcible removal and lifting of the goods and articles of the vendors / squatters selling their goods in the various NDMC markets and colonies viz. Connaught Place, Janpath, Palika Bazar, Malcha Marg, Sarojini Nagar, who were earning their livelihood for the last more than 30 to 40 years to feed and support their families and owing to outcry of the vendors for their removal for denial of bribe to corrupt officials, the vendors are being tortured mercilessly and physically  manhandled. Further as a result of recurrent death of few vendors in the recent past due to atrocities of the NDMC officers/officials, under the banner of “Rehri Patri, Khomcha Union” a mass dharna was organized, owing to outcry of these vendors today i.e.  Thursday, the 20th October 2016. This dharna was led under the leadership of Senior B.J.P. Leader, Delhi State, Vice Chairman, NDMC and Former MLA (Delhi Cantt.) Shri Karan Singh Tanwar.

In addition to Shri Karan Singh Tanwar, the demonstration was attended by  Shri Satender Basoya (Babbal), President, New Delhi Rehri Petri Khomcha Union, Sarojini Nagar, General Secretary, Shri Manoj Singh,  Convenor, Rastriya Path – Vikreta Sangthan, A-24, Connaught Place, New Delhi and Shri RN Singh,  President, Delhi Rashtriya Path Vikreta Sandh, Shri Ashwani Sonkar, Hawkers Joint Action Committee Chairperson, Smt. Sushma Sharma, Vice Chairman Shri Dharam Bir Singh,  President, Shri Tanwir Singh Dhama, President, Rehri Patri  Khomcha Union, Delhi and Shri Brijesh Tanwar, General Secretary, Rehri patri Khomcha, Delhi, Shri Raju Singh Chandravanshi, Akhil Bhartiya Path Vikreta Association, Shri Amar Nath, National General Secretary, Akhil Bhartiya Path Vikreta Association, Shri Kanchan Lal Baswal, President, Sarojini Nagar Patri Union, Shri Kalamuddin, President, Patri Union. More than 2000 demonstrators participated and among them approx.200 ladies and children protested in support of their demands. Mrs. Veena Pandey, widow of deceased Late Shri Dilip Pandey, Smt. Aarti Devi widow of Late Shri Puran Chand and Shri Dinesh Dixit were also amongst protestors.

Shri Tanwar further stated that these poor victims/protestors were holding play cards / banners in their hands showing ",u Mh ,e lh vf/kdkjh gks”k esa vkvks]”  ”gR;kjs jktk”ks[kj dks fxjQ~rkj djks]s” ”jsgM]h iVjh okyksa ij vR;kpkj can djks”s] ”xqMkaxnhZ ugha pysxh”] ”rkuk”kkgh ugha pysxh”] ”Hkz’Vkpkj cUn djkss]” fj”or[kksjh cUn djks”. They continuously raised these slogans whole day. Shri Tanwar while addressing the large crowd of thousands of demonstrators and protestors stated that bribery and felony bellyful today is steeped in NDMC. The so called richest local body of Asia has become a source of corruption. Owing to indulgement in corruption, many officers of NDMC are working as an agent of Shri Kejriwal and executing all illegal and inhuman acts without any hitch. One of such officer is Mr. YVVJ Rajashekhar, Director (Enforcement), who is deeply indulged in corrupt practices and is acting as a puppet on the behest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and is bent upon evicting the original squatters forcefully and manhandling. There is atmosphere of terror in the whole region. Extortion business is going on and those who deny bribing are vehemently removed. Till now 300 – 400 squatters’ stands removed. The workers of Aam Aadmi Party or well wishers of Shri Kejriwal are accommodated in their places or those, who bribe the inspectors to the tune of 3-5 lacs, under the table, are allowed to squat,  in their place, without any proof of squatting in the past thus ignoring all the rules and regulations.

These uprooted squatters, squatting for the last 30 to 40 years have got all legal documents in their possession in support of their contention. Many of these squatters have got stay orders from the Hon’ble Court, even then they are not allowed to squat / earn their livelihood. The fresh squatters allowed without any legal documents in their place.  There is huge outcry among these squatters. due to atrocities by Shri Rajashekhar on the behest of Shri Kejriwal, few squatters have already lost their life. The widow of the deceased Late Shri Vinay Pandey was having a permanent place to squat and use to sell clothes and she was earning her livelihood as her husband lost of his life due to atrocities. The widow had alleged that her husband could not pay Rs.5 lacs on demand thus when his goods were forcefully seized with the instructions of Shri Rajashekhar, he was so perturbed, he got heart attack and lost his life.  In series of such incidents, Shri Puran Chand, a squatter squatting in E-Block, Connaught Place selling cosmetic goods also lost his life owing to utter physical and mental harassment and torture, he suffered massive heart attack. In another incident, consequent upon seizure of goods / articles, one Mr. Dinesh Dixit also became victim of mal-functioning of Department and was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, fortunately he was saved. Shri Tanwar also stated that one of the beloved Inspector of Director (Enf.) Mr. Vijay Kumar posted at Connaught Place evicted one squatter when he showed his inability to bribe him heavily.  To permit him there to squat again, he asked for heavy bribe and was caught red handed by the CBI. This is crystal clear and proved that this corruption business is flourishing under the aegis of Shri Rajashekhar only. This peculiar style of functioning of NDMC officers is a well planned and part of the dirty politics of Shri Kejriwal. Keeping the bribing business on, allowing their own well wishers and  putting the blame of their mis-deeds on Bhartiya Janta Party as NDMC  is under direct control of Central Govt. is only to misguide the common man. They are least concerned with the problems and difficulties being faced by a common man.

Shri Tanwar also stated that he is in support with the demands of the shop keepers associations that court orders should not be flouted and squatters should not squat at their own whim and the new squatters should not be permitted to squat after bribing under any circumstances.

Shri Tanwar thus summoning up stated that he would meet and appeal to Shri Raj Nath Singh Ji, Hon’be Home Minister about the atrocities and mal-functioning done by Shri Kejriwal in connivance with Shri YVVJ Rajashekhar, Director (Enforcement). The sad and painful deaths of these squatters should be got probed thoroughly by CBI and criminal FIR registered against the erring officials/officers of Enforcement Department of NDMC.
