DELHI GOVERNMENT FAILS TO CONTROLPOLLUTION

DESPITE THE SUPREME COURT AND NGT’S DIRECTIONS

Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta, today said that the Delhi Government has miserably failed to take concrete steps to control pollution despite several strictures and directions given by the Supreme Court of India and National Green Tributional (NGT). He said that the Delhi Government’s casual attitude towards the serious problem is reflected in the fact that the city’s  pollution levels have crossed the permissible levels.
Vijender  Gupta  said that the Delhi Government has done precious little to educate people , particularly, children with regard to give up the practice of using crackers and fire works as a mark of celebrations.  He asked Deputy CM Manish Sisodia to immediately step-up the public awareness programme with regard to pollution control on festive eve.

He demanded Delhi Government to rise to the occasion on the occasion of the Diwali and ensure preventive steps are implemented to bring the pollution level within normal limits. He said that if preventive steps are not taken, the pollution level will cross all limits.   The worst sufferers would be patients suffering from breathing problems, senior citizen, infants and little children.

Leader of Opposition said that despite ban on diesel based vehicles, they are running without any control of the Government leading to high pollution levels.  The Government has also failed to curb the practice of burning of leaves and garbage.
