INTERSTATE SATTA RACKET BUSTED

With the arrest of four persons namely (i) Arvind Verma (54 yrs) s/o Late Brahmanand Verma r/o Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, Delhi,  (ii) Vijay Verma (38 yrs) s/o Ashok Verma r/o Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, Delhi, (iii) Vikas Verma (27 yrs) s/o Ajay Kumar Verma r/o Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, UK and (iv) Sukhdev Shah (50 yrs) s/o Sukar Shah r/o Jamui, Bihar, Crime Branch has busted an interstate ‘satta’ racket operating in Uttam Nagar area. ‘Satta’ amount to the tune of Rs.26.5 lac alongwith bulk of printed material and other articles being used to run the satta racket has been recovered.
TEAM, INFORMATION & OPERATION: -
        In order to keep check on organized satta rackets, a team of officers of Special Team led by ACP Jitender Singh, consisting of Inspr. Puran Pant, SIs Sanjay, Ajit, ASIs Surender,  Shyamlal,  Bahadur Sharma, Shalinder, HCs Parveen, Virender, Cts Ravi Khari, Sonu and Raman was constituted under the close supervision DCP Rajeev Sharma to develop information in this regard. The team collected information through possible sources and identified some persons.
        On 9.02.16, the team received some specific input that one Arvind Verma alongwith his associates is running a satta racket in a organized manner at H.No.K-1/195, Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, Delhi and as some of the satta racketeers were arrested by police in the recent past, he is planning to shift somewhere in remote area of UP to run his illegal activities.
        Accordingly, the team immediately swung into action and reached near the place of information. After confirmation of facts and observing legal formalities, the team raided the premises and apprehended four persons namely Arvind Verma, Vijay Verma, Vikas Verma & Sukhdev Shah for indulging in illegal ‘sattaparchi’ racket. Cash Rs.26.5 lac pertaining to satta transactions, 15 satta slips, 13 mobile phones and 87 printed ‘satta jantry’ note books, 8 calculators, etc. were recovered. Accordingly, case FIR No.13/16 dated 10.02.16 u/s 3/4/5 Delhi Public Gambling Act, PS Crime Branch, Delhi was registered and investigation taken up.
INTERROGATION: -
        On interrogation, it was established that Arvind is the kingpin of the gang and others are employed on the salary of 8-10 thousand per month alongwith free boarding and lodging. He is running this business since last one year from the said address and covers the areas of Kashipur, Nagina, Shivara, Bijnaur, Moradabad & Jaunpur, UP. Previously, he used to deal with Kulwant, Raju Khanna & Amarnath Bajaj who have been recently arrested in another case. Further efforts are continued to apprehend the big fishes who are part of the interstate ‘satta’ racket.
PROFILES: -
1.           Arvind Verma (54 yrs) is a graduate. He had married to the widow of his brother and adopted her children. He is a gold smith by profession and was earlier running a jewellery shop at Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Earlier, he himself used to bet on numbers in ‘satta’ and cricket matches. On incurring huge loss and high debts, he preferred to indulge in this illegal profession to earn quick easy bucks.
2.           Vijay Verma (38 yrs) has studied upto 9th class. He is married and having two daughters.
3.           Vikas Verma (27 yrs) has studied upto 4th class and is unmarried.
4.           Sukhdev Shah (50 yrs) has studied upto 4th class. He is Married and having four children.
RECOVERY EFFECTED:-
1.           Cash Rs.26.5 lac pertaining to satta business.
2.           15 satta slips
3.           13 mobile phones being used for satta business
4.           87 printed ‘satta jantry’ note books.
5.           8 calculators.
6.           10 pens.
