Gang of auto lifters involved in auto lifting / selling the stolen cars through OLX, busted

South Campus, South District has arrested three auto lifters namely Sagar
Lakra (age 20 years) r/o Village
Mundka, Delhi, Sunny Lakra (age 21 years) r/o Village Mundka, Delhi and
Prince Sharma @ Sunny (age 23 years) r/o Molar Bandh Extension, Badarpur,
Delhi who were indulged in auto lifting and were selling the stolen cars
through OLX. With the arrest of accused
persons 5 luxury stolen cars recovered and 10 cases of M.V. theft solved.
Brief
facts:
On 06.02.16, complainant Sh. Gurmeet Singh r/o Subhash Nagar, Delhi reported that he had purchased a Honda City Car from one Sagar Lakra through OLX. He got the delivery of car on 01.02.16 near Moti Bagh Gurudwara, Nanakpura, New Delhi and the entire payment i.e. Rs. 45,000/- was given to him at the time of delivery of car. Later on, he came to know that the said car was stolen from area of PS Jaitpur, Delhi. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 67/16 dated 06.02.16 u/s 420/468/471 IPC was registered at PS South Campus and investigation taken up.
Investigation
:
During
initial investigation, it was found that the said car was stolen from the area
of PS Jaitpur and in this regard, a case vide E-FIR No. 2401/16 dated 23.01.16
u/s 379 IPC was registered at PS Jaitpur. In order to arrest the culprits
involved in such criminal activities, a team consisting of SI Ashok Kumar, HC
Ram Prasad, Ct Dholu Ram, Ct Yogesh and Ct Ranvir Singh under the leadership of
Inspr. Suresh Chand, SHO/South Campus and under the supervision of Sh. S.P.
Tyagi, ACP/S.J. Enclave was formed. SI
Ashok Kumar was briefed to contact accused Sagar Lakra as decoy customer to
purchase a car. On 07.02.16, SI Ashok Kumar contacted accused Sagar Lakra on
his mobile phone to purchase a car. After some enquiry, accused Sagar Lakra agreed
to sell the car of his choice. As per
plan, SI Ashok Kumar asked him for a test drive of the vehicle. Thereafter, accused Sagar Lakra along with one
other person brought a Honda City car at the pre-decided place i.e. near Moti
Bagh Gurudwara, Nanakpura. The other
team members also laid a trap at and around the spot. On the instance of complainant, both Sagar
Lakra and co-accused Sunny Lakra were apprehended by the team members and Honda
City Car was taken in police possession. On verification, it was revealed that fake
number plate was placed on the said Honda City Car and the same was stolen from
the area of PS Chankya Puri vide E-FIR No. 3357/16 dated 02.02.16 u/s 379 IPC.
On the instance of accused Sagar Lakara, their third accomplice namely Prince
Sharma @ Sunny was arrested from the area of Sarita Vihar, Delhi and one stolen
Honda City Car was recovered from his possession.
Interrogation
:
During interrogation, accused persons
confessed their involvements in many incidents of auto lifting. Accused persons disclosed that they had to
leave one stolen I-10 at Jhirkpur Flyover near Chandigarh as it was damaged in
an accident. Later, 2 more stolen cars
were recovered from different places in Haryana and Chandigarh.
Modus operandi:
Accused
persons used to target luxury cars.
After stealing the cars, they used to park the same at different places.
Thereafter, they will prepare fake RCs and place fake registration number
plates on the said vehicles and will update the description of these vehicles
on OLX for sale by leaving their mobile number.
As soon as they get demand of car from the customer, they will drive the
vehicle to the customer at the pre-decided place and after taking money they
will deliver the stolen vehicle.

Profile of accused person:
1.
Accused Sagar Lakara and Sunny Lakara are brothers and native of village
Mundaka, Delhi. Their father is a taxi driver and they are residing in a rented
accommodation in Nanakpura, New Delhi. Sagar Lakara is pursuing 12th
Class from a private institution in Delhi. He is unmarried. Accused Sunny Lakara is pursuing graduation
from a private institution in Delhi. He
is married.
2.
Accused Prince Sharma @ Sunny is
native of Badarpur, Delhi. He has studied upto class 12th. His father is Accountant in a private company
Delhi. He is staying separately in a rented accommodation with his girl friend in
the area of Molar Bandh Extension, Badarpur, Delhi. Earlier, he has worked as
taxi driver and in a call centre. Now,
he was planning to establish his own call centre for which he was in dire need
of money and to earn quick money, he indulged in auto lifting.
