Syndicate Involved in Providing Ball to Ball Betting Rates to Bookies on Mobile Phones Busted

With the arrest of one Shanti Swaroop Bhatia s/o Lt. Jagannath Bhatia (57 yrs.) r/o Paschim Vihar, Delhi, Crime Branch has busted a betting syndicate operating during Cricket World Cup 2015. The racket which was operating at House No. BG-6/198C, Paschim Vihar, Delhi was busted during the India-Bangladesh Quarter Final cricket match.

       On 19.03.15, secret Information was received at Special Team of Crime Branch that one Shanti Swaroop Bhatia would provide live betting rates through mobile phones during India-Bangladesh Quarter Final match in Cricket World Cup 2015 from his house No. BG-6/198C, Paschim Vihar, Delhi. ASI Yashpal Singh was deputed to develop the information. After verification, a raiding party was constituted and team headed by DCP Dinesh Kumar Gupta and comprising of ACP Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, Insprs. Hariwansh Singh and Ramesh Kumar, HCs Rajbir, Dilbag, Rajesh, Ravinder, Dinesh, Rishi, Cts Amit and Manjeet under the supervision of Addl.CP Ashok Chand was constituted to nab him red handed. 
      
After observing the legal formalities, a raid was conducted at the given place where one person was found operating the system in which he had made a set up of mobile phones in an Almirah in such a way that his voice was audible to all mobile phones installed in the small wooden fixings. He was found announcing the rates of betting on the mobile phones after receiving the same from a Main Line Provider source. He was receiving the rates through his mobile phone connected to his head gear. After sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he continuously gets updated rates on each ball of match from the main line provider and the same was promptly communicated to all punters/bookies connected to him through mobile phones. A case vide FIR No. 43/15 u/s 3/4 DPG Act, PS Crime Branch has been registered and he was arrested in this case .

PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED:-
        Accused Shanti Swaroop Bhatia was born in Moradabad (UP) in a poor family. After death of his father, he alongwith his siblings was admitted in an Orphan Home in Daryaganj, Delhi by their mother. He studied upto Higher Secondary level and started working as a clerk in a private firm. After some time, he started his own business of printing press in Karol Bagh but he was facing financial crunch. He came to know about betting in cricket through his friend and started this racket of providing information about rate of betting through mobile phones in 2007.

Imposter IPS Officer Arrested; an Academic Who Became a Cheat to Realize His Dream Unfulfilled

A team of Special Cell led by Inspectors Rahul Sawhney and Sanjay Kumar has arrested a cheat who impersonated as an IPS officer to cheat several persons in Delhi. On 23/02/2015,one Kultar Singh,s/o Late Raj Singh, r/o F-10, Gali No.2, Krishna Park, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi who runs a shop dealing with sale purchase of mobile phones in Gaffar Market of Karolbagh, Delhi made a complaint stating therein that a person in the name of ‘Satheesh Nair’ who had introduced himself as an IPS officer of Jaipur, Rajasthan, had come to his shop on 30/01/2015 and had purchased two mobile phones in exchange of two old phones by paying an amount of money.
