Six Fraudsters Arrested for Dealing in Duplicate Mobile Phones/Accessories

Crime Branch has arrested six persons namely (1) Sanjay Kumar Madaan (42 yrs) s/o Om Parkash, r/o Naveen Shahdra, Delhi, (2) Feroz Alam (31 yrs) s/o Mahiuddin r/o Shastri Park, Delhi, (3) Khusi Ram @ Karan (23 yrs) s/o Ram Chander r/o Ratan Vihar, Sultanpuri, New Delhi, (4) Mohd. Ragib Alam (22 yrs) s/o Saidul r/o Village Andabadi, Distt Kishan Ganj, Bihar, (5) Abdul Qadir (38 yrs) s/o Mohd Majid r/o Village Dukaghati, Distt. Kishanganj, Bihar and (6) Shankar Lal (32 yrs) s/o Ram Dayal r/o Sangam Vihar, Delhi and has recovered duplicate Samsung mobile phones and other mobile accessories worth Rs.45 lac approx.

Specific input was received that duplicate/cloned mobile phones and accessories of Samsung brand are being sold in Lajpat Rai Market, Chandni Chowk, Delhi whose IMEI numbers are different than those indicated on the packaging box. Samsung representative confirmed that duplicate/cloned mobile phones are being sold in the market. Accordingly, a team led by DCP Rajeev Sharma comprising of ACP N.K. Meena, Inspr. Surender Dalal, SIs Vipin Yadav, Shivraj Tyagi, ASIs Sukhbir Singh, Rajender, HCs Sunil, Deepak, Sandeep, Manish Kumar, Cts. Suresh, Ajay, Manoj and Amit  was constituted under the over all supervision of Addl.CP Alok Kumar to arrest such fraudsters .
          The information was developed and the team conducted raids and nabbed the above mentioned six accused persons namely (1) Sanjay Kumar Madaan, (2) Feroz Alam, (3) Khusi Ram, (4) Mohd. Ragib Alam, (5) Abdul Qadir and (6) Shankar Lal.  At their instance, fake/cloned mobile equipments and accessories worth Rs.45 lac were recovered and a case vide FIR No.172/15, u/s 63 Copy Right Act & 420/468/471/482/483/486 IPC, PS Crime Branch registered in this regard.

        In order to earn huge profit in small span of time, accused persons used to procure duplicate/cloned mobile phones and accessories and used to sell the same in retail market as original under the brand name of Samsung and were earning huge profit of 200% to 300%.

(1)        Accused Sanjay Kumar Madaan was born and brought up in Delhi. He has studied up to 12th standard. After leaving school, he worked for 2 years as scooter mechanic, then as salesman in readymade garment shop. Thereafter, he worked in Lajpat Rai electronics market as an agent. After few years, he purchased his own shop in Lajpat Rai market. Since last year, in order to earn more profit, he started selling duplicate mobile phones/accessories.   
(2)        Accused Feroz was born in UP and he is illiterate. At the age of 12, he came to Delhi and started working in Electronics shop in Lajpat Rai market, Chandni Chowk. Initially, he purchased his own counter at Lajpat Rai market and later took a big shop on rent of Rs. 40,000/- per month last year. To earn more money in short span, he started dealing in duplicate mobile phones and accessories.
(3)        Accused Shankar Lal has studied up to 8th standard. Since 5 years, he is running shop of electronic items at Lajpat Rai market. He started selling duplicate mobile phones and accessories to earn quick profit for about one year.
(4)        Accused Ragib Alam was born in Bihar and he has studied up to 4th standard. He had come to Delhi in search of work. Initially, he worked as an agent in Lajpat Rai market and then took a shop on rent. He also started selling duplicate Samsung mobile phones and accessories to make quick money.
(5)        Accused Abdul Qadir was born in Bihar and he has studied up to 5th standard. Initially, he worked as an agent in Lajpat Rai and later took a shop on rent. Since last year, he started selling duplicate Samsung mobile phones and accessories in order to reap more profit.
(6)        Accused Khusi Ram was born in Delhi and he has studied up to 10th standard. In order to make easy quick money, he also started selling duplicate mobile phones and accessories.

(1)        Duplicate mobile phones - 249.
(2)        Duplicate power bank - 2705.      
(3)        Duplicate adapters - 3388.
(4)        Duplicate earphones - 573.
(5)        Duplicate bluetooths - 205.
(6)        Duplicate memory cards - 135.
(7)        Duplicate mobile covers - 290.
Duplicate batteries - 235.
