GANG OF ROBBERS BUSTED WHO LURED INNOCENT PEOPLE TO BUY CHEAP I-PHONES THROUGH “OLX WEBSITE”

With the arrest of four notorious robbers namely (1) Ahmed Raja aged 29 years s/o Zaheer r/o Shaheen Bagh, Jamia Nagar, Delhi; (2) Jahangir aged 22 years s/o Afroz r/o Prem Kunj, Rana Pratap Bagh, Delhi; (3) Altmas aged 22 years s/o Nasir Hussain r/o Abul Fazal Enclave Part-I, Jamia Nagar, Delhi and (4) Hashim aged 21 years s/o Shoaib r/o Abul Fazal Enclave Part-I, Jamia Nagar, Delhi, the staff of Police Station Sarita Vihar, South-East District, Delhi has solved a case of robbery of PS Sarita Vihar. The robbed mobile phone of the complainant has been recovered.

INCIDENT, TEAM AND INVESTIGATION

          Complainant Akshay Manocha r/o Guru Ramdas Nagar, Laxmi Nagar Gali No. 2, Delhi reported that he saw an advertisement on OLX website in which a mobile phone Apple I Phone 6+ was available for sale. While he contacted on the given mobile phone, a person called him at Jasola Metro Station on 28.02.15 at 3 PM. When he reached there at the scheduled time, he was further called at Round About Jasola Vihar where he was asked to sit in car already parked there. He sat in the car and there were four persons seated in the car. They robbed him of his mobile phone and ATM card at the point of a pistol. They also forcefully got known the PIN number of his ATM card. Then, one of their accomplices withdrew cash Rs. 25,000/- from two different ATMs through his ATM card. Meanwhile, during scuffling with the complainant, their pistol got down from the car through window which they could not picked up since there were movements of public in the area. Thereafter, they got the complainant down from the car in an abandoned place in Jasola Village and escaped. The complainant noted down the registration number of the car and called the police at 100 number. Subsequently, a case of robbery vide FIR No. 152/15 was registered at PS Sarita Vihar and investigation was taken up.

TEAM & INVESTIGATION

          A team led by Inspr. Maninder Singh SHO/Sarita Vihar comprising Inspr. V.S. Rana, SI Nagender Nagar, HC Data Ram, HC Muslim, Ct. Dilshad and Ct. Rakesh was constituted under the supervision of Shri Nidhin Valson ACP/Sarita Vihar.

          During investigation, it was revealed that the pistol which fell down in Jasola area, was handed over to Ct. Rakesh of PS Sarita Vihar by a local person which was found to be a toy pistol looking like a real pistol. Further, the representatives of OLX were contacted through the given mail ID and mobile phone numbers and efforts were made to get details of the accused persons who gave advertisement of selling I-phone on OLX but no fruitful result could be ascertained. It was also revealed that the mobile number given by the accused persons on OLX pertained to UP West and therefore, efforts were also made to track such advertisement having contact numbers of UP West but it did not give any lead.  The registration number of the vehicle used by the accused was also found fake. Further, technical surveillance was mounted which revealed that the SIM used by the accused was on fake ID of Distt. Sambhal, UP. During further investigation, one person was zeroed in who used the mobile phone of the complainant. Subsequently, raids were conducted and after persistent efforts, on 13.12.15 one person namely Jahangir r/o Rana Pratap Bagh, Delhi was apprehended and complainant’s mobile phone was recovered from his possession. Further at his instance, his accomplices namely Ahmed Raza, Altmas and Hashim, all resident of Jamia Nagar were apprehended.

INTERROGATION & PROFILE

          All the accused persons were subjected to sustained interrogation in which they disclosed that they all belonged to Mohalla Pepatpura, Distt. Sambhal, UP. After passing out 12^th standard from their native place, they got involved in cricket betting. After some time, they came to Delhi for further studies and took admission in 3-D Interior Designing course. Meanwhile, they suffered huge losses in cricket betting due to which they were unable to continue their studies, so they started searching easy source of money. They arranged some SIM cards on fake ID from Sambhal, UP and uploaded fake photos of new I-Phone mobile phones on OLX website and quoted cheap rates for selling these mobile phones to attract customers. As any customer contact them, they called him near Jasola Vihar area and robbed him of his belongings. They used the car of accused Ahmed Raza for this purpose. In the above incident, after robbing the complainant they withdrew Rs. 25,000/- through his ATM card which they spent on cricket betting.

          Accused Ahmed Raza, Jahangir and Altmas belong to good and educated families whereas accused Hashim belongs to a poor family. Jahangir and Ahmed Raza are married.
