Gang of Desperate Robbers Busted

THREE ARRESTED : USED TO TARGET PASSENGERS NEAR RAILWAY TRACK : THREE CASES SOLVED

With the arrest of three accused persons namely (1) P. Samuval @ Viraval aged 23 years s/o M. Punnan r/o 172, Hari Nagar, Ashram, Delhi; (2) Sanjay @ Behanga aged 34 years s/o Bhagwan Prasad r/o I-30, Harkesh Nagar, Okhla, Delhi and (3) Mohd. Shahid @ Raja @ Changa aged 23 years r/o Jhuggi Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi, the staff of PS Hazrat Nizamuddin, South-East District has busted a gang of desperate robbers and solved 03 cases including two robbery and one sodomy-cum-hurt case of South-East District.

One Shri Sushil Kumar r/o Vill. Nathu Pura, Gurgaon, Haryana reported that he works as a Security Guard in a private company. On 25.05.15, he was accompanying the call centre staff in a vehicle. At about 11:20 PM, the driver dropped him at Nizamuddin. He went towards Railway Bridge for passing urine. Meanwhile, three persons aged 28-30 years came from behind and hit on his head with a stick and robbed him of his purse containing Rs. 2500/- and his mobile phone at the point of a knife and went away. He was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre by the PCR Van. Subsequently, a case of robbery vide FIR No. 371/15 was registered at PS HN Din and investigation was taken up.

          Since it was a blind case and there was no clue about the identity of the accused persons.  A police team consisting of SI Narender, HC Nasir Ali, Ct. Satish, Ct. Rajesh and Ct. Ravinder was constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Ved Prakash SHO/HN Din.

Further, sources were deployed and local intelligence was gathered. On the evening of 12.06.15, acting upon a secret information, one P. Samuval was apprehended from Shamshan Ghat, Lodhi Road. During interrogation, he admitted that he along with his accomplices had committed the above crime. He also informed that his accomplices could be apprehended from Shastri Market, Bhogal. Subsequently, a trap was laid at Shastri Market at about 10:30 PM where accused P. Samuval pointed towards three persons who were standing at a cold drink shop. On seeing the police party, they became alert and started running in different directions. The police team chased them. During this chase, one of the accused took out a knife and attached on Ct. Rakesh but the Constable saved himself by raising his right hand due to which he sustained injury on his hand. Ct. Rakesh asked the accused to surrender but he continued attacking on him. On this, Ct. Rakesh took out his service pistol and fired one round which hit on the right thigh of the accused. He was apprehended with the help of other staff and knife was taken into possession. He was identified as Sanjay @ Behanga r/o Harkesh Nagar, Okhla. The police team also apprehended one more accused person who was identified as Mohd. Shahid @ Changa r/o Jhuggi Sarai Kale Khan. However, one accused managed to escape from the spot. Subsequently, a case FIR No. 404/2015 u/s 186/307/332/353 IPC & 25/27 Arms Act was registered at PS H.N. Din, Delhi. Accused Sanjay and Ct. Rakesh were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where Sanjay was hospitalized and discharged in the morning of 13.06.15.

All the accused persons were subjected to sustained interrogation in which they disclosed that they remained active at railway tracks between H.N. Din Railway Station to Jungpura, Bhogal and used to target the railway passengers who got down from train at signals before H.N. Din Railway Station. They also target the persons near Bhogal Flyover. They used to carry blade and knife with them and after attacking the target person, they robbed him of his valuables and belongings and escaped. On the basis of their disclosure, two cases of robbery and one case of sodomy-cum-hurt have been solved.

All the accused persons are primary literate and have poor family background. Accused Sanjay @ Behanga came out from jail in Sept. 2014 after two years in jail.
