Couple Involved in Child Trafficking Arrested
Crime Branch has arrested a couple namely Kumar Gupta @ Laxman (28 yrs)
s/o Shankar Shah r/o VPO Sadhpur, PS Garkha Distt. Saran (Chhapra), Bihar and his wife for indulging in kidnapping of minor children. A
minor child of 2½ years, kidnapped vide FIR No.1042/15 u/s 365/34 IPC of PS
Vasant Kunj (South) has been recovered.
FACTS OF THE CASE: -
On 20.9.2015, Sh. Jai Prakash r/o Vasant
Kunj, Delhi reported missing of his son aged 2½ years since morning. One couple
who residing on rent nearby was also found missing. It was suspected that the
couple has kidnapped the minor boy. The above mentioned case was registered and
investigation was taken up by local police.
Keeping in view the gravity of offence, Crime
Branch also swung into action. A team of officers of Inter State Cell led by DCP
Bhisham Singh, consisting of ACP KPS Malhotra, Inspr. Arvind Kumar, SIs
Gurmeet, ASI Rakesh, Satender, Cts Rahul, Ajay, Parminder, Ranbir, Virender and
W/Ct Pushpa Yadav was constituted under the supervision of Addl.CP Alok Kumar
to work out the case.
The couple was suspected to be from Bihar. They had
taken the room on rent in May 2015 and kidnapped the child after befriending
the victim family. Technical analysis revealed that the kidnappers had gone to
Chhapra, Bihar. A team was sent to Chhapra, Bihar and it was revealed that
the couple had returned to Delhi. Sincere and systematic team efforts bore
fruit when on 27.09.15, the suspected couple was apprehended from Central Park,
Connaught Place who were identified as Kamlesh Kumar Gupta @ Laxman and his
wife. The child was recovered from them who was identified as the same kidnapped
boy from Vasant Kunj.
On their intensive interrogation, it was
revealed that accused lady had earlier married to one Laxman r/o Banka, Bihar and
she has two sons aged 14 and 12 year out of this wedlock. They were living in
Sagarpur where Kamlesh Kumar Gupta also used to live nearby. They became close
and when Laxman came to know about it, he started ill-treating her. Ultimately,
she left home and started living with Kamlesh Kumar Gupta.
Both of them decided to be together and they solemnised
their marriage in a temple in the year 2012 and shifted to Gurgaon. As her 2
sons from Laxman were living with their father and she was not able to conceive,
she started feeling lonely and wished to adopt a son. One day, in the end of
2012, they found a baby boy aged about 6-8 months alone in a park in Gurgaon.
The baby seemed to
be of labourer class and they took him alongwith with them. The baby fell ill
after 2/3 months and no medicine worked, so they decided to go to their native
place. The baby died on the way to the village. They performed his last rites
in his village. However, the above version is yet to be got verified.
After living in Bihar for about a year, they shifted
to Delhi. The landlord didn’t ask for their photo ID etc. and no tenant
verification was done. Kamlesh Kumar Gupta used to sell Jhaalmuri on footpath
of Mahipalpur Road. Family of Jai Prakash (complainant) was also residing in the
same building and was also from Bihar. Jai Prakash was a conductor in Metro
Feeder bus and they became friends and the minor child also became friendly
with them. Earlier, they had taken the child to Sheetla Mata Mandir and returned
to gain confidence. The couple had an eye on the child and decided to kidnap
him. As per their planning, on 20.9.15, they took the child with them by saying
that they are going for a ride in Metro and would return after 2-3 hours. They had
left some of the articles in their rented room to avoid any suspicion. They
took a bus to New Delhi Railway Station and boarded a train.
