Desperate Robber /Snatchers Arrested and 12 Blind Cases of Snatching and Robbery Worked Out

With the arrest of one Narender @ Deepak Chawala @ Bablu @ Naveen @ Narender @ Rajbir R/o Nabi Karim Delhi, a desperate criminals involved in more than two dozen cases of snatching, robbery, etc. the staff of P.S. Connaught Place, New Delhi District Police has succeeded in working out more than 14 Robbery, snatching and theft cases and recovered 01 Gold chains, 15 mobile phones and 05 purses.

          Keeping in view the increasing incidents of snatching in the area of PS Connaught Place, the entire beat staff of Connaught Place area was sensitized and put on high alert for preventing and detecting the crimes.  Night Patrolling was intensified and a special team was formed under the leadership of Inspr Mukesh Walia, SHO Connaught Place alongwith SI Roop Parkash, H.C. Arun Pal No. 144/ND and Ct. Dharmender No. 443 /ND under the close supervision of ACP Connaught Place Shri Dhirender Partap Singh.

After thorough study of the crime data, the crime prone areas and the entry/exit routes were identified.  Police Station’s local intelligence network was also activated. A total 13 pickets were working in the area of Police Station Connaught Place for the prevention and detection of snatching incidents were detailed.  Traps were laid down.  Finally, on 21.07.2015 the team received a tip-off and came to know that one person Narender is coming and can commit snatching in the crowded in the area of Police Station Connaught Place and specially at and around Hanuman Mandir being Tuesday. Accordingly traps were laid at different places in plain clothes including Hanuman Mandir. At about 1 PM accused was noticed at Hanuman Mandir and the Police team (already deputed) in civil/plain clothes started to follow him keeping a safe distance. Suddenly accused attempted for pick-pocketing of one devotee Sh. Bhisham Garg S/o Sh. Murari Lal R/o B- 187, Ramakrishna Marg West Patel Nagar Delhi immediately accused was apprehended.  On interrogation he revealed that his name is Narender @ Deepak Chawla.  A case was registered vide case FIR No. 195/15 U/s 379/511 IPC Police Station Connaught Place. Further the apprehended accused did not take much time in admitting several cases of robbery and snatching. He further disclosed that he is accompanied by one more associates Vickey, therefore the team further searching for the co-accused. 

          Accused Narender @ Deepak Chawala mainly targeted lonely ladies/girls as they may not pose any physical resistance to him.  He mainly operated in crowded places in the Lutyen’s Zone.  Whenever he was arrested by Police he used to tell them a fake name so that his past involvements would not be accounted for.  And also, every time he was arrested by the police, he pretended that involvement to be his first involvement.  As per available Police records he was arrested in 6 different names and 5 different address i.e. (1) Narender, (2) Deepak Chawala, (3) Bablu, (4) Naveen, (5) Narender and (6) Rajbir.

Accused Narender @ Deepak Chawala belong to middle class family. Since the beginning he was not interested in studies and was in the company of criminals.  Though he studied up to 8th and is able to read and write but he chose to use his thumb impression in place of signatures as being illiterate it would give him some benefit at the time of trial before the Court of Law.  His chosen name Deepak is actually the name of his brother who is a driver by profession and when Police went to search for him his younger brother always got in trouble. Hence his family is also fed up with him.  His father Sh. Vijay Kumar even got a criminal case registered against him vide case FIR No. 72/11 U/s 542/323/34 IPC Police Station Nabi Karim and has not allowed him to enter their home ever since.  He also has an extra marital relation and in order to impress his girl friend and fulfill her requirements, he finds it easier to indulge in these criminal activities for earn fast cash.


          During prolonged interrogation and systematic investigation, the team recovered a total of  01 Gold chains, 15 mobile phones, 05 purses, thereby working out 14 cases of robbery and snatching of different Police Stations including Police Stations Tuglak Road, BK Road and Connaught Place.

Imposter IPS Officer Arrested; an Academic Who Became a Cheat to Realize His Dream Unfulfilled

A team of Special Cell led by Inspectors Rahul Sawhney and Sanjay Kumar has arrested a cheat who impersonated as an IPS officer to cheat several persons in Delhi. On 23/02/2015,one Kultar Singh,s/o Late Raj Singh, r/o F-10, Gali No.2, Krishna Park, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi who runs a shop dealing with sale purchase of mobile phones in Gaffar Market of Karolbagh, Delhi made a complaint stating therein that a person in the name of ‘Satheesh Nair’ who had introduced himself as an IPS officer of Jaipur, Rajasthan, had come to his shop on 30/01/2015 and had purchased two mobile phones in exchange of two old phones by paying an amount of money.
