360 KG of Poppy Straw Recovered from Two Drug Traffickers
A team of officers of Crime Branch led by ACP KPS
Malhotra and consisting of Insprs Vijay Rastogi, S S Sandhu, SIs Vijay
Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Neeraj, HCs Ajeet, Surender, Abhey, Kanwarpal, Cts Atul,
Vikram, Vijender, Sandeep, Ranjeet, Satbir, Sunil, Dayaram, Ravi Misra, Ajay,
Praveen, Parvesh under the supervision of DCP Bhisham Singh and overall
supervision of Addl CP Ashok Chand has arrested two drug
traffickers along with huge quantity of poppy straw.
On 18.04.2015, acting on specific information, two persons were
apprehended with a white Mahindra XUV 500 bearing registration number PB 65Z
1865. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kulwant Singh (51 yrs) s/o
Resham Singh r/o Paschim Vihar, Delhi and other as Rohit Parkash (30 yrs) s/o
Virender Parkash r/o Najafgarh, Delhi. 360 kg poppy straw kept in 18 plastic
bags was recovered from the vehicle. Another pair of number plate bearing
registration number UK 07 AS 4984 was also recovered
from the vehicle. A case under the appropriate sections of the law has been
registered at PS Crime Branch.
During interrogation, Kulwant Singh disclosed that his father
Resham Singh had retired as Captain from Indian Army who started working as building
contractor. After the demise of his father, he fell into bad company and to
maintain his lavish lifestyle, he started smuggling opium and poppy straw.
Kulwant Singh mostly used to carry his wife and son alongwith him
to avoid police checking. Rohit Prakash was hired for loading/unloading of the contraband.
Kulwant Singh is previously involved in one more case of NDPS at PS-
Banga, NawaShehar, Punjab.
