Notorious Robber/ Snatcher Arrested Red Handed with Knife Daring Efforts by Constables on Duty

With the arrest of accused Somnath @ Bunty R/o Raghubir Nagar Delhi,  the staff of P.S. Maurya Enclave, North-West District has worked out a sensational case of robbery/snatching registered vide FIR No. 826/2015 u/s 392/397/186/353/411/34 IPC  & 25/27 Arms Act. in which accused snatched gold  chain of a lady at knife point.  On seeing this the police and public chased and nabbed the accused, who tried to attack the constable with knife.

Brief Facts

          In view of the increasing number of snatching cases, Patrolling and sustained vigil has been enhanced in the in area North-West District. All SHOs have been directed to mobilize maximum staff for patrolling especially on vulnerable stretches. The efforts bore fruits with the arrest of desperate robber by the patrolling staff mainly constable Bhagat Singh Meena and constable Babloo.

          Brief facts of the case are that on 19.09.2015 at about 5.35 PM, one Sh. Rajiv Trehan R/o Pitam Pua Delhi along with his wife Pooja Trehan had come to Shiv Mandir, CD Block Pitam Pura Delhi for offering prayers.  When the couple came out and started proceedings towards Power House on foot, two unidentified person came from behind on a Scooty and stopped near the walking couple. The pillion rider got off the Scooty and at knife point threatened to kill Smt. Pooja if she did not handover her gold chain. When Smt Pooja resisted, the other co-accused asked his accomplice to snatch the chain from her neck. The pillion rider immediately snatched the chain from the neck of Smt. Pooja and fled towards Power House on their scooty. The couple raised alarm and Smt. Pooja also immediately called up 100 number.
 Hearing the noise, the rider of scooty lost control and fell down.  In the meantime, the couple had reached near the assailants and tried to overpower them.  However, one of the accused took out knife and threatened them to attack and tried to flee away on their scooty.  Meanwhile, Constable Bhagat Singh Meena, No.2025/NW who was patrolling in the area, heard the cries for help, also reached the spot and started chasing the accused. During the hot chase, one of the accused riding the scooty, left the scooty with the pillion rider and crossed towards the other side of the road.  As a result the scooty fell down to the ground with the pillion rider (Somnath@Bunty) who had earlier snatched the chain from Smt Pooja also fell down and started running towards CD Market, Pitam Pura despite sustaining injuries.  He flashed knife during the chase by police and public. Constable Bhagat Singh Meena who had continued chasing the assailants nearly caught him but the accused managed to free himself while trying to attack Constable Bhagat Singh.  Constable Bhagat Singh somehow managed to save himself. In the meantime Constable Babloo who was also patrolling in the area also joined Const Bhagat Singh. Both the constables  overpowered the accused while he was still trying to attack. During the search of the accused, later identified as Somnath@Bunty the gold chain of Smt. Pooja and the knife used in the crime were recovered from his possession.
 A case vide FIR No. 826/2015 dated 19.09.2015 u/s 392/397/186/353/411/34 IPC & 25/27 Arms Act was registered at PS Maurya Enclave. During interrogation the accused disclosed the identity of his accomplice as Javed@Sonu.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED

Somnath@Bunty (24 Years) S/O Babbu R/O M-53, J.J. Colony Raghubir Nagar Delhi, is a school dropout.  He fell in bad company and started indulging in snatching & other illegal activities to meet his rising personal expenses.

INTERROGATION & PREVIOUS INVOLVEMENT

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had been active in the area of West District for the past some time and was involved in many cases of snatching with his associates. He was earlier arrested in following cases.
1.    FIR No. 198/15 u/s 394/34 IPC,            P.S. Mianwali Nagar, Delhi
2.   FIR No. 197/15 u/s 394/34 IPC,             P.S. Mianwali Nagar, Delhi
3.   FIR No. 154/15, u/s 356/379/34 IPC      P.S.  Mianwali Nagar, Delhi
4.    FIR No. 164/15 u/s 356/379/34 IPC      P.S. Mianwali Nagar, Delhi
5.   FIR No. 175/15 u/s 356/379/34 IPC       P.S. Mianwali Nagar, Delhi
6.   25A/27A/2011 u/s  41.1 (d) Cr.p.C        P.S. Moti Nagar
7.   FIR No. 311/11 u/s 379 IPC                   P.S. Rajouri Garden.

Further investigation revealed that the Scooty used in the commission of the offence was also stolen from the area of PS Tilak Nagar for which a case was registered FIR No.005676 dated 27.6.2015 U/S 379 IPC P.S. Tilak Nagar, Delhi.  The registration number on the Scooty was also found to be fake.

          The following items were recovered from the possession of the accused :-
1.   One Gold chain
2.       One Scooty (used in offence)  

3.   One knife (used in offence)

Imposter IPS Officer Arrested; an Academic Who Became a Cheat to Realize His Dream Unfulfilled

A team of Special Cell led by Inspectors Rahul Sawhney and Sanjay Kumar has arrested a cheat who impersonated as an IPS officer to cheat several persons in Delhi. On 23/02/2015,one Kultar Singh,s/o Late Raj Singh, r/o F-10, Gali No.2, Krishna Park, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi who runs a shop dealing with sale purchase of mobile phones in Gaffar Market of Karolbagh, Delhi made a complaint stating therein that a person in the name of ‘Satheesh Nair’ who had introduced himself as an IPS officer of Jaipur, Rajasthan, had come to his shop on 30/01/2015 and had purchased two mobile phones in exchange of two old phones by paying an amount of money.
