Gang Involved in Theft Of Water Pipes from the Project Sites of Indira Gandhi Canal Lift Program Busted
Crime Branch has busted a gang of thieves with the
arrest of three persons namely (i) Wasiullah (22 yrs) s/o Garibullah r/o Burari, Delhi, (ii) Majid (25 yrs)
s/o Azeem r/o Rain Basera, Sadar Bazar, Delhi and (iii) Mohd. Mobin (31 yrs) s/o Mohd. Yamin r/o Ward No.1, Mehrauli, Delhi
who were involved in theft of water pipes from different project sites of
Indira Gandhi Canal Lift Programme in Rajasthan and use in Delhi Jal Board
Projects. Water pipes worth Rs.25 lac have been recovered.
An input was received by HC Pradeep of
South Eastern Range that a gang is involved in theft of huge quantity of water
pipes from different project sites of Indira Gandhi and Kumbha Ram Canal Lift
Project in Rajasthan undertaken by M/s L&T. This information was further developed
and on 06/09/2015, a
team led by DCP Bhisham Singh, consisting of ACP
KPS Malhotra, Inspr. Pankaj Singh, ASIs Shiv Kumar, Dharmender, HCs Pradeep,
Jagpal, Naresh, Cts Kusumpal and Vinod was constituted under the supervision of
Addl. CP Alok Kumar to
nab them. Acting upon a secret input, one Eicher Truck No. HR 38 Q 3826 was
intercepted in farm houses area of Fatehpur Beri. Two persons sitting in the
truck tried to run away but they were overpowered by police team and identified
as Wasiullah and Majid. On checking, 49 water pipes of different sizes were
recovered from the truck.
During sustained interrogation, they
disclosed that they had hired the truck from Faridabad and went in the area of
Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan and had stolen these pipes. The same were to be delivered
to one Mobin who is a Delhi Jal Board contractor, at a very low price. They
also disclosed that they have delivered stolen pipes in huge quantity to Mobin
earlier also, who keeps them in a nearby farm house for further using in DJB
projects.
On this, a raid was conducted at Singla
Farms where Mohd Mobin s/o Mohd. Yamin r/o Ward No.1, Mehrauli, Delhi was
apprehended and huge quantity of water pipes of different sizes were found. On
interrogation, Mobin revealed that he is a contractor in Delhi Jal Board and
undertakes various projects. In order to make huge profit, he started receiving
stolen pipes at very low price and used the same in various projects of DJB in
Delhi. Value of the recovered water pipes is about Rs.25 lac. On enquiry, it
was revealed that a case FIR No.144/15 u/s 379 IPC has been registered at PS
Bagar, District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan reg. theft of the pipes.
