Green Corridor for Transportation Of Human Liver
In a yet another instance of
transportation of a human organ to save a life, Delhi Traffic Police has
provided “Green corridor” to a human liver which was transported from Toll
Plaza, Gurgaon/Delhi (KM 24 Toll Plaza) to Institute of Liver and Biliary
Sciences at Vasant Kunj. A distance of 12 Km was covered in a record 11 minutes. The route taken was Toll
Plaza, Gurgaon/Delhi - NH 8 Road - Mahipalpur Crossing - Ryan International
School - Masoodpur - Vasant Kunj Road - Institute of Liver and Billiary
Sciences hospital.
In the evening of 2nd
August, 2015, a request was received from ILBS, Vasant Kunj to provide Green
Corridor for transportation of human liver from Toll Plaza, Gurgaon/Delhi. The human
liver was brought from Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jaipur by road. Immediately, traffic arrangements were made on the
route. Ambulance carrying human liver alongwith the team of doctors left the
Toll Plaza, Gurgaon/Delhi at around 8:26 PM and reached Institute of Liver and
Biliary Sciences hospital, Vasant Kunj at around 8:37 PM in 11 minutes covering
a distance of 12 Km. It is learnt that the liver was donated by a brain dead
person in Jaipur.
Delhi Traffic Police ensured that there is no obstruction/traffic jam on
the route. We are happy to contribute in the noble cause of saving a life.
