Desperate Criminal Arrested

The staff of Anti-Auto Team Squad/West District has arrested a desperate criminal namely Karan @ Goverdhan, vide FIR No. 1097/15, dated 26/08/2015, U/S 25 & 27/54/59 Act and 411 IPC, P. S. Uttam Nagar, Delhi.

Karan @ Goverdhan S/o Kanwar Sen R/o H. No. E-53, Gali No. 4, Vikas Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Delhi, Age 24 years. He studied upto 10^th standard. He was not good in studies and hence dropped school after 10^th class and thereafter, started working as contract driver with tour & travel agencies in nearby localities. In the year 2013, he alongwith his elder brother Prithvi was involved in an attempt to culpable homicide case of P. S. Ranhola, Delhi. His elder brother Prithvi is presently lodged in jail in a murder case vide FIR No. 466/15, U/S 302 IPC & 25/27 Arms Act, P. S. Ranhola, Delhi.

Previous involvement: - FIR No. 469/13, dated 15/12/2013, U/S 308/452/34 IPC, P. S. Ranhola, Delhi. 

Case worked out: -FIR No. 4321/15, dated 12/06/2015, U/S 379 IPC, P. S. e-Police Station Crime Branch (M. V. Theft), Delhi (jurisdiction P. S. Binda Pur).

                   In view of some incidences of motor vehicle thefts in the recent past, the team of AATS/West, under the leadership of Inspector Bal Krishan Badola and close supervision of Sh. Dinesh Tiwari-ACP/ operation/West, was directed to make sincere efforts to keep tab on the auto-lifters.

                   On 26/08/2015, a trap was laid by the staff consisting of ASI Dilbag Singh, HC Rupesh Kumar, HC Ved Parkash, Ct. Naveen Kumar, Ct. Ajay Kumar and Ct. Hari Parkash at a strategic point at  Ganda nalla road, Hastal, Delhi. A tip off was received by ASI Dilbag Singh that the above cited accused along with Santro car, which he used in commission of crime by tampering its registration number plate, would come. It was also informed that accused Karan used to threaten the witnesses in a murder case in which his brother is behind the bar, to turn hostile. It was further informed that he would go to Uttam Nagar locality to threaten a person to extort money.

                   After some time, a person (later identified as Karan @ Goverdhan S/o Kanwar Sen) came in a Maruti Alto car No. DL-9-CD 9870 from Shiv Vihar J. J. Colony and alighted there. He put out a Country-made Pistol from his trousers and started waving it to threaten the general public. Noticing this, the raiding team intercepted by showing service Pistol to put down his Pistol and overpowered him immediately and managed to snatch his pistol.

                   His personal search was conducted and three live 8 MM KF cartridges recovered from the pocket of his pent. The recovered Pistol also found loaded with one live cartridge. The same was unloaded and seized on the spot after completing legal formalities.

                   He was asked to produce the documents of the Maruti Alto car No. DL9CD 9870, but could not produce the same and tried to mislead the team by presenting wrong facts. On enquiry, it revealed that the car was stolen vide FIR No. 4321/15, dated 12/06/2015, U/S 379 IPC, P. S. e-Police Station Crime Branch (M. V. Theft), Delhi. The Maruti Alto car was taken into police possession U/S 102 Cr.P.C. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 1097/15, dated 26/08/2015, U/S 25 & 27/54/59 Act and 411 IPC was got registered at P. S. Uttam Nagar and the accused person was arrested accordingly.  

                   Later, the accused person was put to sustained interrogation to know about his involvement in other criminal activities. After a little dodging, he spewed out that his elder brother Prithvi is a criminal and involved in many criminal activities. His brother used to threat people to extort money. For past quite some time he has also started assisting his brother in his criminal activities and extortion of money. He was arrested first time in the year 2013, when he alongwith his elder brother and three other persons badly beaten a person namely Rohit a resident of Vikas Nagar, when he refused to pay them money. His brother is presently lodged in Tihar jail in a very sensational and highlighted murder case of an auto-driver namely Pardeep in Vikas Nagar. The entire incident of the murder was recorded in a CCTV and the CCTV footage of the murder was also telecasted in media. Hence his brother was arrested and since then is lodged in Tihar jail. Due to severity and sensation of crime, bail of his brother has been rejected many times in the trial court as well as Hon’ble Delhi High Court. His brother had asked him to collect money to manage his bail and also directed him to threaten the witness in the murder case to hostile. To serve this purpose, his brother had also arranged a Country made Pistol for him through a person namely Rahul, a resident of village Khaira, Najafgarh, Delhi.

                   In order to execute their plan, he started threatening the local shopkeepers and businessmen to extort money. During the course of interrogation, he also disclosed that few days ago, he fired in the air in the local market of Vikas Nagar from his Country made Pistol to create fear among the locals, so that he can easily extort money from them. He had also stolen a Maruti Alto car from Binda Pur area to use the same in commission of crime. Further he disclosed that he also used his personal Santro car in the commission of crime and extortion of money by randomly changing the registration number plate, so that his identity could not be established. The Santro car was gifted to him by his in-laws in his marriage. Accordingly, the Santro car has also been taken into police possession. 

                   Interrogation of the accused person is in progress to establish his involvement in other criminal activities. Raids are being conducted to arrest absconding Rahul, who provided him the Country made Pistol. The investigation is underway. Meanwhile the staff behind the good work is being suitably rewarded.
