Eight Theft Cases Worked Out with the Arrest of Two Members of “Puncture” Gang
With the arrest of two criminals namely Kalu (38 yrs) s/o Gurdayal Singh r/o H.No.28/176, Kasturba Nagar, Delhi and Roshan Lal (47 yrs) s/o Bal Kishan r/o 18/20, Kasturba Nagar, Delhi, Crime Branch has succeeded in cracking 8 cases of theft. They have committed several thefts by diverting attention of unsuspecting occupants of vehicles at red lights by falsely informing them about puncture in tyres or leakage from the fuel tank. The gang has been thus named as “Puncture” gang.
On 29.07.2015, secret information was received by HC Raj Kumar of Eastern Range that two members of notorious puncture gang namely Kalu and Roshan Lal would come near GTB Hospital crossing to commit crime. Accordingly, a team led by DCP Dinesh Kumar Gupta, consisting of ACP Sukhwinder Singh, Insprs. Vivek Tyagi, Vinay Tyagi, HCs Raj Kumar Nareshpal, Upender, Sanjeev, Mohd. Saleem, Digvijay, Devender, Chander Prakash, Cts Shyam Lal, Mohd. Javed, Babu Ram, Vikrant, Shashi Kant, Satyawan, and Vivek was constituted under the overall supervision of Addl.CP Alok Kumar to nab them.
Acting on this information, the team nabbed the accused persons and recovered one Honda Twister motorcycle, stolen from the area of PS Dabri, Delhi from them. Another motorcycle and a Honda Activa scooty were also recovered at their instance from Kasturba Nagar.
During sustained interrogation, they disclosed to have committed a number of thefts by “puncturing the vehicles” or falsely informing them about puncture in tyres or leakage from the fuel tank. They would puncture victim’s vehicle by putting a nail clasped in wooden piece under the tyre of the vehicle and either use stolen motorcycles or fake number plates to avoid identification. They usually target lone passangers/businessmen who travel with cash. 08 cases of thefts committed in East & South West District have been worked out with their arrest.
1. Kalu (38 yrs) s/o Gurdayal Singh r/o H.No.28/176, Kasturba Nagar, Delhi has studied upto 12thstandard. Earlier, he used to work as a rickshaw puller to earn livelihood. He fell into a bad company and came in the contact of one Manoj Kumar, an active BC of PS Nand Nagri. Then, he started committing petty offences and gradually shifted to this particular crime and modus operandi. He is previously involved in 4 criminal cases.

2. Roshan Lal (47 yrs) s/o Bal Kishan r/o 18/20, Kasturba Nagar, Delhi is an 8th class drop out. He has worked as an assistant/Munshi in Seelampur SDM Court. He was looking for easy money. He came in contact with one Sher Singh @ Shera of Nand Nagri and started committing petty offences and later on joined this gang. He had been involved in three cases of snatching/robberies.
