Notorious ‘Kuldeep Gang’ Involved in Extortion Case Busted

            The staff of PP Shanti Nagar, PS Keshav Puram of North West District have arrested four persons including two women namely Prabhu Kumar, Vishal Sharma, and Neetu and Seema ( name changed) who along with their other accomplices were running a gang for extorting money by luring persons in ‘Honey Trap’ from different parts in Delhi.  

On 3.1.15, a PCR call was received at PP Shanti Nagar regarding black mailing by two persons.  Immediately, S.I Ram Manohar, I/C PP Shanti Nagar along with the staff reached the spot and overpowered the two persons who were about to leave on their motorcycle after taking extortion money. The accused persons were identified as Prabhu Kumar r/o Jahangir Puri and Vishal Sharma r/o Tilak Nagar. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 11/15 u/s 384/120B IPC was registered at PS Keshav Puram on the statement of complainant Sushil Nagar and investigation was taken up. 

During investigation, complainant told that for the last 15 days, he had been getting calls on his mobile phone from a woman who had been coaxing him to invest money in her work promising good returns. The woman also insisted to meet her personally and on her continuous insistence, he went to meet her at Vishnu Garden, Khayala, Delhi. He was taken in a house by the woman where two young girls were already present. As he sat in the house for few minutes, two men suddenly barged in the room claiming/impersonating as ‘Media person’ carrying handicam. The men were also wearing Identity card of ‘Press’. Both of them threatened him that he was involved in illegal act with the women present there and that the premises was under their continuous watch and raiding team of media and police was soon arriving there.

Both men thrashed him and made him remove his clothes completely and clicked his nude photographs and made video. On their direction, one girl also reportedly removed some of her clothes. The victim became highly terrified and the said two men threatened to circulate his naked pictures if he didn’t arrange Rs.5 lacs. Under their threat, the victim handed them Rs.5000/- which he was carrying and begged them to lower their demanded amount. Finally, they agreed to let the complainant go for arranging Rs. 1 lakh more for not making his pictures public. During the entire episode, the ladies kept the victim saying to keep quiet and to do as per the wishes of the said two men. While the complainant came out from the house for arranging the money, two persons followed him on a motorcycle.  

Then, the complainant reached his office at Tri Nagar, he made both men sit in his office and went out to arrange money. He could arrange only Rs.30000/-. He gave them the arranged money but and in the meantime, informed the police.  

During interrogation, Prabhu Kumar and Vishal Sharma told that the master mind of this ‘Honey Trap’ racket is one Kuldeep and a woman. They also disclosed their following modus operandi:

 “The accused persons followed a typical modus operandi of making repeated calls to their targeted persons on the pretext of some business proposal and then used to take the unsuspecting person to their place claiming as their office. Once the person became comfortable at their place, the gang members waiting outside used to barge in the room posing as “Reporters” wearing I-card, carrying handicam and made video after making the person naked threatening him that he was going to be arrested by the raiding police team. Once the trapped person was pressurized and terrorized by this act, they used to demand huge money for not circulating his naked photographs and video”.

It also further revealed that all their accomplices are coming to Inderlok Metro Station for distributing the extorted money amongst themselves. So a police team laid a trap outside Inderlok Metro Station but the master mind Kuldeep and woman got suspicious and didn’t come there. Instead they sent other woman gang members who were identified as Neetu and Seema ( name changed). The complainant identified them as the women who were sitting in the room while he was trapped by the gang on 3.1.15. Hence, both the women were also apprehended.  

1.      Vishal Sharma, age 27 yrs, belonging from Taran Taran, Punjab has studied upto 10^th class. He came to Delhi few years back and presently residing in a rented house at Tilak Nagar and started working with transporters at Burari. There, he came in contact with mastermind Kuldeep and in order to earn quick money, he joined the gang.

2.      Prabhu Kumar, aged 34 years, is a resident of Jahangir Puri. He is a graduate. He used to sell herbal health products and while selling the same, he came in contact with the master mind Kuldeep.           

One Motorcycle bearing No.DL-9AH-9388 and Rs.30,000/- cash was recovered from them.
