FICN Syndicate Busted with Arrest of Mastermind Haridya Thakur & His Close aide Nagender Ram
Crime Branch has busted a syndicate of
Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) with the arrest of Bihar based mastermind Haridya
Thakur (29 yrs) s/o Ramdev Thakur r/o Village Tilua, PS Nottan, Distt. West Champaran
(Bettiah), Bihar and his close associate Nagender Ram @ Chet Ram (34 yrs) r/o
Village Tilua, PS Nottan, Distt. West Champaran (Bettiah), Bihar who were operating
in Delhi and FICN of Rs.500/- and Rs.1,000/- denominations amounting to Rs.1.05
lac recovered. The FICN were being trafficked in India from Nepal by this
syndicate.
Secret
inputs were received by HCs Rakesh, Parveen and Ct. Nishant of Central Range about
a syndicate of FICN racketeers operating clandestinely and circulating FICN in
Delhi NCR. Accordingly, a strategy was chalked out to develop the inputs in
order to bust this syndicate. On 10/11/2015, the efforts put in by the above officers
bore fruit when information was received that one
Haridya Thakur of Bettiah, Bihar would come near Nigambodh Ghat, Yamuna Bazar
at Ring Road, Kashmere Gate, Delhi to supply/circulate FICN and a deal can be struck
with him. Accordingly, a team led by Addl.DCP Susheel Kumar Singh, consisting
of ACP H.M. Bakshi, Inspr. Ashish Kumar, SIs Virender Singh, Vineet Kumar, ASIs
Ajit Singh, Vikrant Singh, HCs Ajay, Rakesh, Praveen, Jitender, Sudhir, Shahir
Khan, Vipin, Rajiv, Cts Karnal, Sohan Lal, Anand and Nishant under the close
supervision of Addl. CP Alok Kumar was Immediately constituted to nab him.
On the pointing out of informer, the FICN
trafficker was spotted and one police officer posing as a decoy customer struck
a deal with him to supply FICN. As soon as the transaction was completed, the
trafficker was overpowered by the team who was identified as Haridya Thakur (29 yrs) s/o Ramdev Thakur r/o Village Tilua,
Distt. West Champaran (Bettiah), Bihar. On his cursory search, FICN amounting
to Rs.1,02,000/- consisting of 87 notes of Rs.1000/- and 30 notes of Rs.500/-
denominations were seized from his possession. A case vide FIR No.165/15 u/s
489-B/120-B IPC, PS Crime Branch was registered in this regard and the accused Haridya
Thakur was arrested.
During
sustained interrogation, it was revealed that the FICN were bought by the
accused Haridya Thakur from Bettiah, Bihar to Delhi for selling/circulation
with the help of his associates Nagender Ram @ Chet Ram and Heera Lal. The high
quality FICN were being procured by him at the rate Rs.300 per thousand from
one Sandeep @ Maana Lal of Bettiah, Bihar
who used to
procure the same from Nepal. The FICN were
being sold
to the first down-chain retailers at 50% rate of the face value and the gang members also used to circulate the same in
busy/weekly markets.
The accused Haridya Thakur was got remanded
to police custody and his associate Nagender Ram @ Chet Ram (34 yrs) r/o
Village Tilua, PS Nottan, Distt. West Champaran (Bettiah), Bihar was arrested at
his instance and FICN amounting to 3000/- of Rs. 1000 and 500 denominations recovered
from him.

He used to run a barber shop. The FICN trafficker Sandeep @ Maana Lal had lured
him to join the syndicate and also introduced him to the other associate Nagender Ram
@ Chet Ram & Heera Lal.

Nagender Ram (34 yrs) s/o Maharaj Ram r/o Village Tilua PS Nottan, Distt. West Champaran (Bettiah),
Bihar is a primary school dropout and is having five children. He is a fellow
villager of accused Haridya Thakur and joined this syndicate to make easy quick
money.
