GANG OF INTER-STATE AUTO-LIFTERS BUSTED
The Sleuths of Special Task
Force (STF)/West District have arrested Ravi @ Mahesh s/o
Mahender Singh r/o H. No. A-22 Major Bhola Ram Enclave, Village Pochanpur,
Dwarka, Delhi. Age 33 years. He is previously involved in 37 cases of MV Theft registered
in different police stations of Delhi. A reward of Rs. 30,000/- (20,000 +
10,000) was declared on his arrest in two cases of PS Dwarka South & he was
also declared P.O. by Hon’ble Court in these cases.
INCIDENT,TEAM AND ARREST
In the recent past, several incidents of auto thefts were reported. In
order to prevent these incidents and to nab the criminals involved in these
cases, the task was assigned to Special Task Force. A team comprising of SI
Rajiv Kakkar, HC Manish, HC Ajay, CT Rashid Khan, CT Adesh, CT Mahavir & CT
Harjinder was constituted, under the leadership of Inspr. Girish Kaushik (I/C
STF) & overall supervision of Sh. Dinesh Kumar- ACP/Operation Cell/West to
collect information and bust the racket involved in these incidents. The team
so formed worked relentlessly and collected details of several criminals with
similar modus operandi and activated their secret informers to collect the
information about the rackets involved in these auto lifting cases.
The hard work of team bore
fruit on 03.12.2015, specific information was received through reliable sources
by Const. Harjinder that one Ravi @ Mahesh along with his associate Manish @
Monu would go through Vikaspuri area on a stolen bike to dispose it off. Accordingly,
the STF team laid a trap near Ganda Nallah Uttam Nagar and apprehended the
accused Ravi @ Mahesh by chasing him who was trying to flee away on a Pulsor
bike on seeing the police party. On enquiry, the above pulsor bike No. DL-10-SR-1857
rode by Ravi @ Mahesh was found to be stolen from the area of Punjabi Bagh. He
was arrested and was taken on 2 days’
police remand. Following his disclosure,
three more stolen Motor-cycles were also recovered at his instance.
Accused Ravi @ Mahesh was
declared Proclaimed Offender in two cases of MV Theft. He was absconding and evading
his arrest. A reward of (10,000 + 20,000 = Rs. 30,000/-) was declared on his
arrest. In order to conceal his identity, presently he along with his wife
& children was residing in a rented accommodation in Dwarka area.
INTERROGATION
On sustained interrogation, accused Ravi @
Mahesh disclosed that he got addicted to gambling & liquor. He further added
that as he was in dire need of money to meet his desires. So, he along with his
associates started committing auto theft and was arrested by police on numerous
occasions. Recently, he was lifting the vehicles with his close associate and
relative Manish @ Monu.

In Jail, he came in
contact with receivers of stolen cars and dispose off them in Meerut, Haryana
& Punjab. The receivers of the stolen vehicles, as per his disclosure,
used to buy the vehicles from various insurance companies along with the
documents in order to dispose them off in scrap. But instead of disposing them
off as per the guidelines and conditions laid down in the agreement with the
insurance companies they take out the ECM of the said vehicle and give it to
the auto lifter and ask him to lift a vehicle of same model, make and color.
Once the auto lifter lifts the vehicle they punch the engine number and chasis
number of the said vehicles with that the engine number and chasis number of
the total loss vehicle. They make the stolen vehicle as genuine and sell them
in the market as genuine one in lieu of handsome amount. He started supplying bikes & cars to
them. Recently he supplied stolen cars/bikes to receivers in Meerut, Haryana.
He further disclosed that he used to keep stolen vehicles with him &
parked them in Major Hospital/Metro’s parking lot. The accused Ravi @ Mahesh
further disclosed that he was well aware of adjoining Delhi border areas &
in recent past, he had stolen more than 100 cars & supplied to Meerut &
Haryana receivers.
