A debate on the topic “ROLE OF POLICE AGAINST
THE VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS” was
organized by Delhi Police under the aegis of National Human Rights
Commission. Participation was opened for
all ranks of Delhi Police. The debate
was organized in two phases, preliminary and final round. Preliminary round was held at Range level at three
different centers in Delhi under the supervision of an officer for each range
of the rank of Jt. Commissioner of Police and Addl. Commissioner of Police on
different dates i.e. on 15.09.2014 (South Eastern Range & South Western
Range) at SPUWC, New Delhi, on 23.09.2014 (Central Range & Northern Range)
at Ist Bn. DAP, and on 02.12.2014 (New Delhi Range & Eastern Range) at PTS,
W.Bad. 10 participants of preliminary
round were selected for the final round of debate competition.
The final round of the debate competition was
held on 24.02.2015 at 4.00 PM at Conference Hall, PHQ in which out of the final
10, nine contestants representing their ranges turned up to participate in the
final rounds. The jury was headed by
Shri S.K. Jain, Member-Public Grievances Commission, GNCT of Delh, with Shri
R.S. Yadav, Jt. CP/Crime and Shri G.C. Dwivedi, Jt.CP/Vigilance, as members of
the jury. The participants spoke,
raising many social, legal and other issues.
W/Inspr. Praveen Kumari, D-I/517, SI Rajeev Rana, D-1643, SI Vipin
Yadav, D/648, SI Sandeep Malik, D/4537, Dr. SI Dalvir Singh Gahlawat, 4335/D,
SI Rajesh Kumar, D-1361, ASI Vinod Kumar, 1069/SD, W/ASI Sunita Sharma, 1543/ND
and Ct. Narender Bhardwaj, 10526/DAP were the participants. On the basis of the Jury’s decision, the First, Second & Third Prizes have been awarded to W/Inspr. Praveen Kumari,
SI Sandeep Malik and W/ASI Sunita Sharma respectively. The Mandal Trophy has been awarded to South-Western Range.
