Sensational Blind Heist Of Approximately Rs. 1.5 Crore Resolved
Crime Branch has worked out a sensational heist
of approximately Rs. 1.5 crore of PS Lahori Gate with the arrest of two accused
Roop Singh @ Vicky (30 yrs) s/o Deep
Chand r/o C-2/113, Nand Nagri, Delhi, and Vinod @ Lala (32 yrs) s/o Ramesh r/o A-2/171 Nand Nagri,
Delhi. Recoveries of Rs 12.5 lac and 19.5 lac have been affected from their
respective possession.
Shri Gaurav Rathi s/o Shri Om Prakash Rathi r/o
Shakti Nagar, Delhi, a dry-fruits wholesale commission agent at Tilak
Bazar, Delhi reported that on 9.12.2014, he alongwith his employees was present
at his shop. At about 6 pm, 4 armed persons entered into the shop and made them
hostages by tying their hands with ropes. Thereafter, they robbed away more
than Rs. one crore cash from the shop. On this, a case of robbery was
registered at PS Lahori Gate.
This incident of robbery committed in a very
crowded and busy area created grave panic amongst businessmen and traders in
the areas and they went on a strike demanding early arrest of the criminals
(Today they called off the strike on knowing that the detection of this case by
Crime Branch of Delhi Police).
Keeping in view the sensational nature of crime,
and the need to arrest the accused at the earliest, several teams of Crime
Branch were tasked to work on the criminals/gangs involved in such crimes. On
17.12.14, SI Vijay Samaria and Ct. Gopal Krishan received specific information
about the movements of the criminlas involved in the robbery of PS Lahori Gate.
Teams led by Inspectors Baljit Singh and Vivek Tyagi and comprising of SIs
Vijay Samaria, Baljeet Singh, Shiv Raj, HCs Bijender, Pardeep, Satyabir, Sunil,
Tejbir, Pardeep, Rampal, Cts Sunil, Rajkumar, Amit, Jagbir, and Ajay under the supervision of ACP Ram Mehar Singh and overall
supervision of DCP Dinesh Kumar Gupta were constituted to nab the culprits.
On the basis of the information received and
developed, a trap was laid in Nand Nagri area and the main accused Roop Singh @ Vicky and Vinod @ Lala (receiver of the robbed
cash) were arrested and Rs 12.5 lac and 19.5 lac were recovered from their
respective possession.
On sustained interrogation of the accused
persons, it was revealed that accused Roop
Singh @ Vicky, Subhash, Mohan Lal @ Sonu and Manish
are close friends who wanted to make quick and easy bucks. They had borrowed
money from their acquaintances for gambling and meeting other needs for leading
lavish lifestyle. They also got indulged in cricket betting but lost all their
money.
Therefore, this time they planned to rob a rich
merchant to get easy money in bulk. They conducted a thorough reccee in first
week of December about the availability of the cash quantity with rich
merchants and planned to target the dry fruit wholesale commission agent at
Tilak Bazar, Delhi.
On 9.12.14, Roop
Singh @ Vicky, Subhash, Mohan Lal @ Sonu and Manish
entered the shop, armed with two country made pistols & a knife and robbed
away three bags containing cash about Rs. 1.5 crore after tying the
occupants of the shop. They shared the booty at the
house of the accused Manish who had got maximum share of booty while accused
Roop Singh @ Vicky and Sonu got about Rs. 20 lac each as a part of their share
of booty. Later on, Sonu handed over the booty to his brother Vinod to hide it
at a safe place which has been recovered.

Roop Singh @ Vicky (30 yrs) s/o Deep
Chand r/o C-2/113, Nand Nagri, Delhi has studied up to 9th class in
local govt. school. His father is a labourer and their financial condition was
not good. He himself used to do the work of making number plates of the
vehicles but he could earn much as per his requirements.
After that, he tried to earn easy
money from Cricket betting (IPL) but could not succeed. He also worked in Delhi
Home Guard for 5 years in North East district. While working as Home Guard, he
became aware about the criminal tactics. So, he joined the hands with Sonu,
Subash and Manish to commit robbery in Tilak Bazar area.

Vinod @ Lala (32 yrs) s/o Ramesh r/o
A-2/171 Nand Nagri, Delhi has studied up to 8th class. His father
was a labourer. He wanted to earn easy money through Cricket betting but he
could not succeed. His younger brother Sonu had actively participated in the
heist and he had handed him over his share of booty for keeping in safe custody
but he was arrested with the booty. He has been arrested for dishonestly receiving and retaining the robbed cash.
